Is there anyone in this group who have submitted the passports to CIC Ottawa office by 1/15 and have not received the passports back yet? My passport was received by CIC on 1/15 and mycic status was changed to Approved after 10 days on 1/25. However, the return tracker has not been activated...

Received PPR: 1/13 Passport Sent: 1/14 Passport Received at CIC Ottawa office for US residents: 1/15 mycic has still not updated and says BG in progress. Return tracker has not activated yet as well. Hope that it should be approved in couple of days...

The new specifications for PR cards are similar to Canadian Passport photos 50mmx 70mm, so Walgreens, Costco etc. do take them in their photo studios. I got mine clicked from Costco. Just tell them that you need to get the Canadian Passport photos, which are pretty similar to US passport photos...

I too agree with this.. One of my friend has sponsored their parents in 2011 and nothing was happening with their application, so he tried ordering the GCMS notes. Their BG check actually started 2 days after their GCMS notes request was processed. So it definitely has some kind of connection...

Does not look like they treat US FSWO as Inlanders. I am a US resident with 8/29 AOR and my BG has not started yet. :'( Seems like most of the August AOR people have their BG check in progress except few.

If you are out of status in US, it means you are not residing legally in US. For Canadian PR, applicant must be having a valid/legal status in US. Otherwise they will reject your application and may ask to apply again from your country of citizenship.
