Do not mislead a guy. This is total BS. Add that you don't need a passport to go to the US, just a stupid Study Permit. If you need a visa to Canada, you need to apply for a counterfoil which you will get within 4 weeks. To get that your WP/SP should be valid

A friend of mine got MR in Sep 2012 and PPR in Jan 2013 while she applied to Buffalo in Nov 2010. Guys in Ottawa work, but the amount of backlog is a question.

As a MI-3 Applicant, I can say that nothing has happened in my case. I ordered notes in January 2013, and that showed no activity in Ottawa. It looks like they have started processing 2011 Buffalo files.

One of my peers was processed recently. The person applied to Buffalo in Fall of 2010, got MR in Fall of 2012 from Ottawa and Landed in Feb of 2013. That's the pace.

Please do not litter the thread. You can visit the cic website to see the approximate processing time, which varies a lot. In general it seems that CEC is much faster than FSW at most consulates.
