in my case, the CSQ given by quebec was given only after i gave an interview to a quebec immigration officer. this is different from cic. But they did ask me questions bout my work and everything I sent to them. So i was thinking pnp and qsw applicants will only have a medical and security check...

AFA i know, it is until the date your medicals expire, which is typically one year from the day you took your medicals.

In that case, what happens with PNP or QSW applicants? in my case, Quebec has already checked my documents, called me in for an interview and spoke to me about my experience. Would CIC go ahead and redo the checks all over again and delay the process?

is that not part of the background checks? If not, what is the difference between background check and security check?

Even if you are not a visa exempt country, you can still drive to the border and talk to a border agent. It is they who will decide if you will be accepted or Rejected. Also, having a COPR is fine and can be used to enter back into Canada.

I dont know if your country will allow renewing passports so early. India for instance does not allow renewing passports until they only have 6 months validity and no longer. If your country does allow it, sure go ahead and renew it.

Email back the embassy saying that you need to travel to Japan and will only be able to send the passport after 6 weeks. Send them the proof of travel and express your helplessness to cancel because of the expenses already spent. They should understand.

I had a question about processing times. For the times published on CIC, when does the ticker actually start? For example I am a QSW applicant and for NDVO, it says 10 months. But is this 10 months start from the day we apply OR does it start from the day we get the AOR OR from the day we see...

It is definately possible. I am in the same situation as you are having done my medical and waiting on HOPEFULLY my rprf request and passport request from NDVO. You should email NDVO to facilitate stamping at CPC ottawa and they should do it for you fairly easily. Then you can send your...
