Where to send application CPC-Sydney or CPP-O?

CIO-Sydney - they will pre-screen it and then forward it to CPP-Ottawa. It's also in the guidelines for CEC class under "mail your application" section.

Check aidina's message above this one. If you send it AFTER they make their refusal decision, they will not accept anything and you have to reapply, losing your money and time. If you send it BEFORE, they are obliged to consider these documents prior to final decisions. It is way easier to make...

With respect to duties, the CIC guidelines state that the applicant must have carried out a substantial number of duties. So if one is missing but others are accepted, and the lead statement is somehow met, CIC may accept it on the basis 80% or more of the duties are met.

No; I meant sending them your publications as proof you did the work under NOC 4012. You can state that at the time you applied, the work was only being submitted, but as publication takes a long time, only recently you were able to send them (if that's true). If it's not true, you can just...

Hi asbereth, I wrote my own letter but the department refused the idea that a student write such a letter; they approved every line in my letter but still wrote it as they wanted to, and said HRSDC got the duties from them not the other way around. They also refused to add the lead statement...

Do NOT wait for refusal letter. Once they reject your application, it is over. You need to act quickly. They have the right to reject any document you send them after their decision. We recently learned that they must consider any document they receive BEFORE rejection. My guess is that the...

Universities have standard text and will not custom-make letters each time CIC finds a tiny loophole in the existing text. As a matter of fact, HRSDC got their NOC descriptions from employers, not the other way around. They collected info on RA duties from universities. THEY did the copy-paste...

Do you have any publications where your name and your professor's name are listed? In my opinion, if CIC won't accept that, there is nothing they would want to accept and would be clear evidence they are hell-bent on rejecting every application they receive. So your best bet is scholarly...

CEC withdrawal is the only option for me?

You can withdraw if you will get your money back. Otherwise, the worst case scenario will be they reject your application and you still don't get your money back. In all cases, it is better to gather documents for applying again. If you won't get your money back by withdrawing, my suggestion is...

Honestly, if this happened to me, I would raise hell. Even if the word "assist" is not in the lead statement, the title of the position is research ASSISTant. If duties also indicate that the student assisted the prof in any way, shape, or form, the work experience must be accepted. So I would...

Someone here posted a link to a court ruling (Hasan vs CIC if my memory serves me right) where rejection occurred because the letter was copy/paste from the NOC list. The court agreed that if a letter is provided and contains satisfactory information but the VO feels there is some doubt, they...

So let me get this straight - your letter lists the duties as per NOC 4012 including the lines "assist professors in the analysis of results and the preparation of journal articles or papers" and "Organize reference materials, visual aids and other materials as required by university...

Question About CEC ?, Job Related to study?

What posters here noted is true but I would like to stress on something to be eligible to apply under CEC: Work must be "skilled" in NOC 0, A, or B, AND Your work permit allows you to work in that job (best is if you have an open permit) If your work permit is "closed" and work is specified...

You shouldn't "borrow" just to show CIC you have the funds. If your parents "grant" you money and you do not have to pay it back, that's a different story. Many here suggested that your parents can send you money with a document saying it's a "gift" from parents and it's yours to keep.

What could be the best time to apply?

When you get your HR letter which indicates how much you worked, make sure you have 52 weeks in which you worked 30 hours or more per week. Also to be on the safe side, apply after June 25, 2013. It's only 3 weeks between June 1 and June 25. If you must absolutely apply on June 1, you can ask...

Hi asbereth, That's true. However, it still says "previous study" so they may still not credit the first 2 years of PhD as it is "current study." That could help applicants who studied for 2 years but not towards a degree and then stopped. I am not sure it means they will list the first 2 years...

The infamous 5 points for adaptability. Sadly, most of us did not understand what they meant. It says that 5 points will be granted for "previous study" of 2 or more years in a Canadian institution after the applicant turned 17 and has done so legally - study permit. We thought that 2 years in...

If you have degrees from outside Canada, you need to have equivalency assessment. Points allocation for work experience are changed. You get less credit for work outside Canada and more points for work inside Canada. Also, to get points for spouse under adaptability, the spouse needs to take...
