Citizenship test: Collective action required, or expect endless delays, years. Example of the effective lobbyng of people awaiting spousal sponsorship

Yeah, I saw it this morning. Back in 2007 while my wife and I were applying for PR the recently elected Harper government decided to change the rules. They froze all immigration processes for a few months while new rules were created. Then they announced the new rules and that the backlog had...

Citizenship test: Collective action required, or expect endless delays, years. Example of the effective lobbyng of people awaiting spousal sponsorship

I'm with you in most of your post but I'd like to point out that the "rule-of-law" is relative when the rules themselves change. I don't think the IRCC will break the rules or something. I'm afraid the rules will change. I'm ok with waiting until the IRCC eventually manages to go ahead with my...

They're not doing tests, though, right? They closed everything down less than a week before my test date, so now I'm in limbo. And I'm in Quebec City, so we would depend on a temporary office and with all the backlog in larger cities, I'm guessing they're not going to start doing those temp...

210,930 Citizenship Grant Applications PENDING - including 42,000 awaiting citizenship ceremony and 87,000 awaiting citizenship test (as of May 2020)

The cancellations happened less than a week before my test was scheduled to happen. I was soooo close. I am not very optimistic about tests moving online quickly, so now I'm wondering if I'll have to go through the process of renewing my PR card because it will expire next year. It's a whole...

I'm not sure how the COVID situation will affect times now, but before the AOR would take a few months (2-3) on average. If you provided an email with your application, you'll get it by email, otherwise by mail. This thread here is for people who applied in July 2019. You might want to look for...

The invitation says you need both, that's why I'm asking. The very next line after saying you need to bring the originals, they say, in bold -- "You are also responsible for bringing with you photocopies of your valid and expired passports and travel documents." They didn't ask you for them?

The exam invitation mentions that you're responsible for providing copies of your passports during the interview. Does that mean the only identification pages or do we actually need to copy the whole thing?

I've got a question about the interview. In the document checklist for child applicants, it say we need to send translations of any documents along with an affidavit from the translator. We've sent all that. But in the interview invitation, they say that if you applied for a child, you have to...

First of all, congratulations and thank you for taking the time to detail your experience. I was super surprised that we need the COPR. I always assumed the COPR was no longer needed once we get our PR cards. I had to go check if I still had ours. Fortunately I did but I got scared for a minute...

Updated. Montreal seems to be moving nicely (not as well as Calgary though.) I wish they let me choose, I'd be more than happy to drive to Montreal from Quebec City for the test if it would accelerate things.
