^not true. there are a lot of people on this forum itself that applied after Dec 1st and still got their visa.

As long as you include documentation to show where you were when you took 8 months off (in your case, you were interning in Asia) you should be fine. I have a friend who took a semester off and one friend who took a year off and both got their PGWPs.

Most schools also have deadlines for refund applications, usually about two weeks after the start of the program. Make sure you talk to your school ASAP
