Received AIP (Sept application | SDS | India)

How come they're still giving some people AIP while others get the normal visa/permit? I don't get it.

I got my visa approved and stamped on my passport for Feb 2021 program but I now want to defer my studies to Fall Term 2021

But there are no new restrictions right now? Not sure why you want to defer. If you're worried about the "lockdowns" in Ontario and other provinces, let me tell you that the lockdowns in Canada are a joke compared to what you saw in India last year. Kind of weird to defer because of this reason...

Private college diploma claiming PR points

Public institutions in Canada are usually recognized via legislation rather than specific government bodies. Here's how Seneca College was founded, for instance: https://www.senecacollege.ca/export/sites/www.senecac.on.ca/about/documents/History.pdf Why concern yourself with minutiae? If your...

York University (SCS) - Concern with Program

I don't follow that logic at all. He can always claim that getting a credential from a Canadian public university would help him move to bigger and better companies in his homeland.

If they're so concerned about COVID then they should do what New Zealand has done - just shut off all visas. NZ hasn't been giving out student visas (with some exceptions) for some time now and they make it very transparent on their website...

https://globalnews.ca/news/7594233/trudeau-mandatory-hotel-quarantine-covid-ca/ Sucks. Hotels are so much more expensive than other options. Hopefully it doesn't actually happen.

    Visa refused- help and ideas

That applies to 99.9% of the courses offered at Canadian colleges and universities. That has never been an important reason behind denials even if the visa officer might mention it in the rejection.

Private college diploma claiming PR points

Pretty sure public/private only matters for getting PGWP. For just getting points for a Canadian education, you can claim points as long as the institution is accredited (and you fulfill the other requirements). I mean the requirements literally say "an accredited Canadian university, college...

GCMS NOTES WELL EXPLAINED HAS NEVER BEFORE UNTIL NOW

Don't forget you can apply for GCMS again regardless of them asking for an extension. Also, you can have different/multiple GCMS requests to both CBSA and IRCC - increasing the likelihood you'll get a response in time from at least one.

    CIBC OR SCOTIA BANK

Well, some cashback is still better than zero. It's not like international students are going to qualify for any better cashback cards. To be honest most students would only qualify for 0.5% cashback since the definition of a "grocery store" by CIBC/VISA is quite narrow. Search on...

    Got study permit rejected

Is that even true these days? Depends on where you're applying from I guess. In India it's a fact that many SDS applicants are in limbo since a long time and yet non-SDS ones keep getting processed.
