If it is a practice for CIC or local VOs to enquire with the banks directly to know the status of the funds, I wonder why would they request a current POF during the process, which has been the case with many applicants. Just a doubt - not challenging any comments here :)

It generally takes 2+ months from PER to MR. Nothing to worry about. Keep your fingers crossed, you will hear from them soon.
