Petitioning CIC to improve inland processing time and grant Open Work Permit

She wouldn't need free healthcare if she had a valid work permit, entitled by her application. Then she would be able to work and pay taxes.

Petitioning CIC to improve inland processing time and grant Open Work Permit

Oh my God you're right! Why didn't I think of this when I fell in love with a Canadian??? Silly me! Should've fallen in love with an Australian instead, if only I could turn back time!

Change.org Petition for Inland Applicants( Please sign)

I know I'm a little late to the conversation but I felt the need to say a few things. 1. It's not a competition between outland and inland. Nobody is competing to see who has it *censored word*tier. The whole discussion on that seemed a bit ridiculous to me, why do people have problems with...

Almost past a deadline to give them something we can't get

Hey... I'm really sorry that I don't have an answer for you, but I wanted to tell you that I know what you're going through and a lot of people here will understand your anxiety. The Friday thing sounds crazy, and I know how frustrating bureaucracy in our crazy corrupt countries can be, it...

CIC news: Work Permits for Spousal Sponsorship Applicants, March 2014

It doesn't! That's the part that drives me nuts. I asked the same question on another thread and they sent me a manual, one of the ones the CIC agents use, where it says so... but it's a manual for CIC agents, not for the common user. (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/ip/ip06-eng.pdf)

CIC news: Work Permits for Spousal Sponsorship Applicants, March 2014

What I can not get in my head is that if you don't call CIC to ASK them about this, then you'll never KNOW that things have changed. That is completely ridiculous. It's like a top secret rule that you need to know about in order to ask about. Know what I mean? If the original poster from that...

    Spousal sponsorship

I got mine at Black's. They have it all set up for immigration.

Work Permits and Family Sponsorship from Within Canada

Are you kidding me? Is that "manual" intended for us, the common users? I read everything I could before submitting my application, nothing every mentioned anything about it. I'm just saying, if that option was available to us, it would be nice of them to let us know. Thanks for that, I can...

Work Permits and Family Sponsorship from Within Canada

Well, there is no official announcement about you being able to apply for an OWP together with the PR application either. Officially, what it says on the CIC website and what I always thought before visiting this forum, is that you must wait for CIC to give you AIP for you to apply for an Open...

Work Permits and Family Sponsorship from Within Canada

I did know that it was from the same lawyer that hosts this forum, who seems to know a lot. I doubt an immigration lawyer would publish this if things had changed. I wonder when the initial doubts started, was it just speculation from people on the forum?

CIC news: Work Permits for Spousal Sponsorship Applicants, March 2014

I just assumed that an immigration lawyer would know if things had changed. He published the "news" in March 2014.

Work Permits and Family Sponsorship from Within Canada

When I switched from PGWP to a closed permit with an LMO, I talked to several agents on the phone, they all replied the same thing and one even sent me some documents on my email about implied status, confirming that I did receive implied status from applying for the closed LMO (new work permit)...

Work Permits and Family Sponsorship from Within Canada

Check this out: http://www.cicnews.com/2014/03/work-permits-spousal-sponsorship-applicants-033283.html If you apply for an Open Work Permit at the same time as your application (in the package, together), you will be on implied status until stage 1. That means you can keep working with the...

CIC news: Work Permits for Spousal Sponsorship Applicants, March 2014

So there has been a lot of speculation about applying for an Open Work Permit at the same time as the Inland application for spousal sponsorship after they moved it from Vegreville to Mississauga. I've read about CIC call agents saying different things. I don't know if you've already shared...

Do they do criminal background checks

Here's what I would do, but keep in mind that I am no expert: Check the box saying yes, and in a separate sheet of paper explain very clearly what the problem was. Even if it turns out that he didn't have a criminal background, your honesty will look better in the eyes of the officer studying...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2014

They always say that "there is no guarantee that you can re-enter Canada", even if you have a Visa or whatever. I've entered Canada many times with a valid work permit, a valid study permit, and a Visa when I've travelled outside the US. I haven't had any problems coming in. It has nothing to do...

Paying Fees with U.S. Debit/Visa Card

I only have Visa debit and have never been able to pay for anything on CIC. I always pay with someone else's credit card (and pay them directly). I use CIBC here in Canada, so it might be different if you're in the States. But my Visa Debit from Canada does not work to pay fees online.
