Not to add to the confusion for you, but I mailed it to the "Canada Post" address and they confirmed having receiving my passport a day after online tracking said that it had been successfully delivered.

My passport reached Ottawa on March 20th, and today I received notification that my xpresspost mail was processed today (March 24th) at 18:32 in Ottawa! Fast!

The fingerprints are taken for the RCMP clearance. They don't do fingerprints for fun. :P

The RCMP clearance check is just a police check for Canada. It can take weeks to do it from a police station and is cumbersome, but with the digital fingerprinting service, it can be done within a week. When you call, you can ask what you need to bring with you for identification.

Where in Saskatchewan are you? Save time and go to a fingerprinting service, and not the police station.

I had e-mailed letting them know that I had mailed in my passport, and to confirm that the conditions in STEP 1 didn't apply to me.

I sent in my passport and it was received today (March 20, 2014). My e-mail didn't ask for any photos either. Is this now standard or did they miss mentioning it in the e-mail? I didn't send any, just the passport.

Security checks can take a long time depending on where you are from. I paid RPRF on December 1st, 2013 and I still have no response from CIC. You don't need to be alarmed.

Thanks spookyb. Yes, I'm from Pakistan. I just assumed security checks were complete when they request RPRF and a medical exam, but I suppose that's not the case.

CIC requested RPRF, and a medical exam on December 1, 2013. I completed the medical and paid the RPRF that week, and ECAS was updated with Medicals Received mid-December. Since then, I've had two e-mails from CIC, one that requested the RPRF again on December 18, 2013 and another one...

Just to update, I received an e-mail back from CIC saying I didn't have to submit another as the previous one was still valid. There was no mention of why I received the second request. I suppose they had overlooked the document.

I never made a copy. I have no idea what it said.
