    US outland applicants' thread :)

Thanks to everyone for bringing this change in regulation to our attention. I went online this morning and obtained my EIN, which was pretty straightforward other than having to pretend I was a sole proprietor of a business. I then registered for AES, which is even more cumbersome and...

    Credit history

In our case, we were able to get a Canadian mortgage last year, based upon our US credit (I am an American, still waiting for COPR and not yet landed; my partner is a Canadian citizen who has been out of the country for over 30 years). We didn't have much choice of mortgagers, but it was...

    JUNE 2014 OUTLAND applicants

We received an email request for additional documentation which included the following: "We have now completed the initial assessment of your application, and expect to finalize your application without a personal interview. While an interview does not appear necessary at this time, we reserve...

From what is stated here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/EnGLish/department/ips/index.asp, the operational target represents the number of applications that CIC staff will have to be able to process in order to achieve the goal of the immigration plan. There is no suggestion that they constitute an upper...

    JUNE 2014 OUTLAND applicants

We are completely in the dark as to their motivation for requesting the additional photos. We sent four photos with the initial application, as required by the country-specific instructions (US). On August 27th they requested "Two (2) passport-size photographs. (Photographs must conform to the...

    JUNE 2014 OUTLAND applicants

Yes, they gave us 60 days to submit the additional document and photos. That would make our bring forward date October 26. I replied to their email that the documents had been sent and referenced the date that the postal service said they were delivered, but it was probably all for naught if no...

    JUNE 2014 OUTLAND applicants

No, my last contact with CIC was a request from them for a Statutory Declaration of Commmon-law Union, and two photos for the PR card. The stated that they had reviewed the application and did not think an interview would be required. They had the requested document and photos in a week, but...

    JUNE 2014 OUTLAND applicants

Yeah, trying to be patient. CIC requested the Statutory Declaration of Common-law Union from us, along with two more photos. They received them a week ago today but, of course, we've heard nothing. Would love to know if someone is working on our file or if the additional documentation is just...

    JUNE 2014 OUTLAND applicants

From what I've seen on this forum, the biggest source of delay in approving sponsorship (when all of the documentation required was provided up front) is background checks. Apparently there can be wide variation in the response time for CIC to get background check information from various...

    US outland applicants' thread :)

Sorry, I referenced the wrong set of instructions. The mailing instructions are here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3900ETOC.asp#3900E6 Note that there are separate addresses for sending by mail or sending by courier.

If you're not comfortable updating the spreadsheet, just post your changes to the Ottawa forum. Someone will make the changes for you :D

    US outland applicants' thread :)

Check the country specific instructions for address details. Outland US applications are sent to Mississauga for stage 1 (sponsor) approval, then forwarded by CIC to Ottawa for stage 2 (applicant) approval.

How do you Americans like Canada? :P

Yes, location has a LOT to do with it. I am an American planning to move to small town coastal BC within the next several months with my Canadian partner. Because I have spent most of my life in the northern tier of states (primarily Minnesota but also Montana) I feel less culture shock visiting...

Processing Times Updated for Visa Offices for sponsorship of spouses etc...!

The new processing times only confirm the consensus here that the posted times are of no use as a guide for current applications. (And discouraging for new applicants). Ottawa went from 15 months to 16 months for complete applications after Stage 1 approval. What we are seeing in practice is...

    JUNE 2014 OUTLAND applicants

Yes, it certainly seems that way. The requested additional document and photos were sent out to CPC-O today. Now back to waiting. They gave us 60 days to respond but we are reasonably hopeful that they will pick up our case once again when the additional materials arrive next week. It seems so...

What are Photo requirements - Passport submission for PR stamp

Here is the link they sent me yesteday when they requested two more photos. I'd not seen it before and it is much more detailed than what is in the country-specific instructions. Hope this helps http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/pdf/5445EB-e.pdf

The good news: "We have now completed the initial assessment of your application, and expect to finalize your application without a personal interview." The not so good: "In order to continue processing your application, the following is required: - IMM 5409—Statutory Declaration of Common-law...

    CIC Requesting IMM5409 - Confused?

Any thoughts on the possible impact of Condition 51 on the apparent increased interest in getting IMM5409 from common-law applicants? For those of us who have been together long enough as common-law couples to avoid Condition 51 (5 years in our case) is CIC looking for stronger legal...
