You need not worry about the absence beyond 4 years. Your calculation starts Sep 30 2010. Try the online calculator, even if you put the dates beyond 4 years it will give you a warning and will take only immediate 4 years from the date you intend to sign.

If that was the question then yes. CIC still have old citizenship rules and applications. New one will be effective approximately in an year.

OP already has the letter from school. Question is whether CIC would accept letter when the requirement says certificate or transcript.
