    Housing crisis in Canada

depending on your occupation you may consider different options. Calgary is not optimal but it's ok, imo, but I also agree that its economy is not very attractive. Also consider ottawa, waterloo, london, montreal, halifax, etc. Some are more expensive than Calgary but still cheaper than Toronto...

    Webform response timeline

Hi, I don't think the normal web form (the usual webform one use to submit additional docs, changing address etc) actually work. I first sent a normal web form stating I'm exempt from the travel restrictions and asking them to prioritize my application. That was back in late April. A response...

    Webform response timeline

I am exempt from the travel restrictions and have a visa application in process. I have a full time job and immediate family members in Canada and I sent all the proofs. I think I should be expecting a passport request letter in a not-too-long period of time. I saw on this forum someone sent...

Mortgage and buying a new house

Well we are talking about totally different scenarios. If the little furnishings are out of one's own choice (I mentioned "unique lifestyle") I have no comment. But what the other guy mentioned was when they spent all the money on the house itself so they couldn't afford more furnishings. I...

Mortgage and buying a new house

My 2 cents: I don't like the idea to confound a residence and investment. One generally should not take the residence as an investment. It should be like food and clothing. I literally do not understand those who have a huge house with little furnishings unless it is their unique lifestyle. I...

Mortgage and buying a new house

Right. We all know the potential huge issues behind this unreasonable market. But inside this crazy thing I still needs to buy as otherwise rental is not cheap either. Bidding is absolutely no fun. and therefore, when offering a price one needs to set boundaries based on all the risk factors.

Mortgage and buying a new house

I guess the thing is, when someone bought the home he may have intended to live in it for at least 5-10 years, and after 2-3 years he found himself gaining a lot if he sells it. There is a good chance for such story in large cities. I agree that when buying a primary residence, we should not...

Mortgage and buying a new house

I have exactly the same situation as you in 2020. I have to say how I regret that I didnt buy a property that time! I live in GTA. We have had some down payment that time and good income. With the tax we have to pay 35% of the full price (20% dp+15% nonresident tax), which limits our budget at...

Can I fly home after 3 day GAA hotel stay

I live in GTA and have a vacant basement with washroom for my quarantine. But I couldn't find a cheap flight from my home country to Toronto. On the other hand flights to Vancouver are much more affordable so I intend to book a flight to YVR. I understand that I need to stay in a GAA hotel in...
