Yes, but I was still enrolled at college. I had both study permit and off campus work permit, so technically i was a student. Im just saying that, they let me in with a copy of the permit, I did not have an actual one with me at the border.

Update from me: called Cic today, the lady said my work permit has been approved and has been mailed to me on Oct 2nd (like 10 days ago). Should be arriving sometime next week (unless it's lost in the mail or delivered to wrong address!) Once again, I applied by paper on June 7.
