    November 2020 - Citizenship Application

Seems like IRCC offices in the east are on a roll! If only the Calgary office was as efficient. I don't know why our office is so slow (seems to be the only office that hasn't issued test invites to anyone after June 2020.. even smaller offices like Saskatoon are faster). :(

    November 2020 - Citizenship Application

I think the Calgary office is probably the single most backlogged in the country right now. Doesn't look like they've issued invites to anyone beyond June 2020 so we Calgarians who applied in the latter half of 2020 probably won't see a test invite until 2021. :(

Thanks. Definitely gives me hope. What's your timeline like? Are the interview and oath-taking virtual or in-person?

    Calgary applications

There doesn't seem to be much movement for Calgary applicants in the tracker. Looks like we're in for a very, very long wait. How I wish we could just walk into the Harry Hays building (I think that's where Calgary IRCC is based) and ask what's going on with our applications.

    November 2020 - Citizenship Application

Based on what I've seen in the tracker so far, it seems highly dependent on where your local IRCC office is. For instance, my BG check has been completed since April 9 and but my file is still sitting in Sydney as of this week. My local office is Calgary and it seems like they're still issuing...

    November 2020 - Citizenship Application

I just gave IRCC a call. They should be able to provide you the information. I've called a couple of times and the agents have consistently said Calgary, so I think the information is true.

    November 2020 - Citizenship Application

Genuinely happy for applicants in the Toronto area, but some offices like Calgary (my file's assigned there) are extremely slow at sending out test invites. I hope the Calgary office is able to pick up their huge backlog given AB's reopening!

    Calgary applications

Looking at the 2020 Citizenship Tracker, it seems like the latest Calgary applicant who received an invite was from May 2020. So depending on how far away you are from May 2020, you could be in for a long wait. I'm Nov 2020 so there's still around 6 months worth of backlog before they get to me. :(

Is the Calgary office extremely backlogged right now?

Thanks for the insight! If I request GCMS notes from CBSA, will there be information about my application (e.g. where my application is, etc.)? My understanding is that CBSA only has information on when you enter / leave Canada and maybe a couple of security items, but do let me know if I'm...

Is the Calgary office extremely backlogged right now?

I'm not sure if it's just me, but I wanted to know if anyone from Sept 2020 onwards in Calgary has received their test invites yet? My file has been tagged for endorsement to the Calgary office for test booking for 3 months now, but it's still sitting somewhere in Sydney, NS as of this week. My...

    Calgary applications

I'm still waiting for my invite, but I have friends in Calgary who applied between Nov 2019 - Jan 2020 and just received their invites in the last 4 - 6 weeks. This is just conjecture, but it could suggest that we still have a long wait ahead of us, unless one gets approved for urgent application.

Can call center agents view GCMS notes?

I had a chance to talk with an agent last week, and noticed that she was able to view the exact office where my file was being processed. Agents probably won't admit it, but does anyone know if we can avoid the 30-day wait for GCMS notes by asking specific details about our applications (e.g...

    Citizenship Certificate

Hi all, I'm still waiting for my citizenship to be processed but I just wanted to know if the issuing of a citizenship certificate is already included in the $630 citizenship grant processing fee? Or do I apply and pay for that separately after oath taking(I believe it was $75)? If it's the...

How Long To Transfer From Sydney, NS Office To Local Office?

Hi all, I had a chat with an IRCC call center rep last week, who mentioned that my file is in queue to be transferred from the Sydney, NS office to my local office (Calgary) for test booking. Any idea how long it usually takes to get issued a test invite from this point? Does it mean I'm in a...

Letting IRCC Know That You're Out Of Canada = Delay In Application Processing???

Hi everyone, According to this page, we have to let IRCC know if we intend to leave Canada for more than 2 weeks during the Citizenship application period: You can leave Canada after we receive your application as long as you: keep your permanent resident (PR) status can receive any letter...
