    Lost old Passport

You do have a gap in travel documents due to the missing passport, right? Just check that and explain.

    Lost old Passport

Lost passport means the visas and stamps on it can't be verified as entry/exit proof. So that would increase the chance of RQ, but definitely won't lead to a rejection. If you have i94 report then it should help to reduce the chance of RQ. It's totally up to your case processing officer though.

    Visiting US as Canadian citizen

Were you born in those countries with too many green card applicants? That's the only reason why one's GC application can take so long (years or even decades). And, would you have stayed in the US, had your green card been granted quickly? ;)

Request IELTS certificate copy from CIC

They won't issue a report if your test was over 2 years ago. Some people seem to have got their original report back from CIC so that's not impossible. Also, most people don't get asked for the original language proof, if they demonstrate good English in the interview.

You can actually vote in a municipal election as PR

Oh I see what you're saying. But the situation is quite different though: the overseas Americans now are spreaded over many countries/region where the US has no jurisdiction over, so even if there were representatives for you who can pass laws/policies, how could they enforce any of them on...

You can actually vote in a municipal election as PR

Well, don't overseas US citizens get to vote in the presidential election? I guess they don't get to vote in the house/senate elections as they don't live in the states..

You can actually vote in a municipal election as PR

"Taxation without Representation" was the reason the United States revolted against the British Empire ;) I still saw those words on some license plates when I was down there.

You can actually vote in a municipal election as PR

I guess what's more relevant is the right of taxpayer to vote.. But I agree a country has the right to determine who gets to vote. Foreigners who don't like paying taxes without the right to vote can only choose not to come...

You can actually vote in a municipal election as PR

It's probably an error that his wife's name ended up on the voter's list, then.

You can actually vote in a municipal election as PR

That's odd. One of my Canadian coworkers went to vote in the Ottawa municipal election, and saw his PR wife's name beside his, so he thought his wife could of voted if she had gone with him... This website is not a government site, is it?

    September 2017 Citizenship Applications

I'm wondering how you wrote to your case processing officer? Was the letter directed to someone personally or not? It's totally within your right to file formal complaints but I'm just curious on how you did it.

You can actually vote in a municipal election as PR

There was a local municipal election where I live, and I was told permanent residence could actually vote. Did not know that!
