In the list of occupations / studies on the citizenship application it says to have no gaps, or the form will be returned. This does not make sense at all. What if my wife was a homemaker. She did not study or work for a few months. What does CIC expect to see written for that period?

Side question: does it have any negative impact on the application if a person was not engaged in work or studying?

Just some context:

My wife is trying to "find herself" after moving from her home country and it's been difficult. She was learning English with a private tutor for a while and it's all online, so there is no official record or any certification for a couple of initial years. She did go to a proper school eventually, so there is paper trail for that. But overall, if we just follow the application form, it looks like she was doing nothing for a long time.

Any suggestions on how to handle this?

Homemaker is an occupation, and a difficult one. So put that in and there won't be any gaps.
