Yes, IRCC sends email a week before but sometimes early too.
to counter verify if they had sent you an email, you can log in to your ECAS account to see the communication.
If that is the case then the only option is to apply for Special authorization which remains valid for 4 days. Traveler needs to show Special Authorization with Canadian Citizenship certificate at boarding.

Is you email address same as where you receive Test Invite?
It is the same thing when they started exploring online test and oath ceremonies. No one knows the timeframe unless one of us receives and reports.
It is like same thing when they started "Virtual landing" for PR because Borders were being overwhelmed. We might see this option in a month or so.
