plz advise a suitable place in toronto , for indean and pakistanis.

I'm not Indian or Pakistani, so I have no idea what you would consider "suitable". I go to mass at a Catholic church on Sherbourne street and they have an Indian mass every Sunday. So, I assume there are a lot of Indian friendly areas. :) Gerrard Street East between Greenwood Ave. and Coxwell...

Informing US that spouse is no longer living there

Ok, so my original question was a bit misunderstood. It's about the basics of moving. Does my wife (American citizen with Canadian PR) need to inform the state she was living in that she has moved? An example of how this could be a problem is being called for jury duty. While she has not...

Informing US that spouse is no longer living there

Ok, thanks for the feedback so far. Who should we contact to get the full details on this and what we should do so we're not hit with any nasty surprises? Canadian lawyers? IRS?

Informing US that spouse is no longer living there

Yes, this is what we're concerned about as well, that's why I was asking about the best way to handle it.

Informing US that spouse is no longer living there

Last weekend my spouse landed and now we're just waiting for her PR card. One thing that we're wondering: is there anything she needs to do to inform the US that she is no longer a resident there? For instance, she's received letters before to appear for jury duty, and that's going to be a...

Is there a time limit on moving her belongings to Canada after she has landed? We went to the CBSA website as directed in the letter accompanying her passport/VISA, but we couldn't find anything specifically about bringing goods for residents that are landing.

Yep, it was mailed from Toronto Canada to Buffalo USA. I wanted to clarify my previous question. We're planning on doing the landing this weekend in Buffalo, and after that head back home to Toronto. In a couple of weeks, my spouse would like to return to the US by car to pick up her...

Finally got the passport back after almost a month! Now I have another question. According to the papers we received, my spouse isn't allowed to leave Canada until she receives her PR card unless she applies for a PR travel abroad form? Does this mean that if we go to a port of entry to do her...

So we sent off my spouse's passport from Toronto directly to Buffalo on Oct 26 via Canada Post Xpress, and I included a return envelope (also Canada Post Xpress) inside. They received it on the 28th, and I've been checking the tracking number for the return envelope and so far there are no...

Thanks for the info. Just in case anyone else is wondering, I called CIC and was informed that the Fort Erie location in Ontario is actually just a proxy to make it cheaper for Canadians to mail off the passport. It's a PO Box, and the mail gets forwarded to the Buffalo location, so it goes to...

Ok, so since she's currently still visiting Canada, we can mail her passport off to the Fort Erie Ontario location, then they'll mail it back to my Canadian address? And once we receive her passport, we just have to cross over to Buffalo, turn around back to Canada and get stamped?

We got an email today requesting we mail my spouse's passports for visa issuance. :) I have a couple of questions regarding this. In the email, a link was provided listing instructions for passport submission. It lists two addresses that we can send the passports to, one in Buffalo, and one in...

Thanks, I filled out the Buffalo Visa office case specific contact form and sent it off. After submitting, it redirected me to a webpage that said might get back to me within 28 days.

Thanks, I will email them and see what they say. What ID should I provide? The receipt ID, or the sponsorship ID? I'm not sure which information Buffalo will have, or if they'll have both.

Yeah neither of us have received any letters from Buffalo with regards to my spouse's application. I haven't made an attempt to contact Buffalo just because it says on the site (which I can't seem to link here) that they won't respond to inquiries unless it's past the approximate processing time.

So it's normal to wait this long with no updates other than Application Received? I'm just not sure if they've actually looked at the application, or are processing it, or what.

Buffalo. We sent everything in one go, medical report, FBI clearance report, paid for the entire thing too.

    May 2011

So according to CIC's website, my spouse's application was received on May 26. It's now Sep 12 and we have had no updates. All it says is "We received SPOUSE's application for permanent residence on May 26, 2011." and it's been like that since then. Is this supposed to change? I'm not sure what...

Question regarding sponsoring my American wife

Thanks for the response. So basically we can do the sponsorship forms and she can enter/leave/re-enter Canada while it's being processed provided she can convince the border official that she is returning to the US? I assume she must do the police record check in the US. Does the medical get...
