Anyone know about why early 2023 applicants still waiting for final decision? Didn’t get any updates yet? What’s really going?
What’s going on was IRCC had minimal screening and was issued visas like crazy so the volume of asylum claims skyrocketed. Now that IRCC has cut PR quotas there is a huge volume of protected people waiting for PR to be processed compared to the actual quota allocation. Wait times are likely going to continue to get longer.

That was IRCC’s fault, not the applicants’. They should have taken responsibility for their own mess instead of punishing people who have been waiting, working, and paying taxes to the government.

This is actually crazy! My friend got her PR in a year and now applying for citizenship and most of us are waiting more than 2 years and still no decision!

They deliberately do this to keep putting pressure on us, while they process other PR categories within months. Yet, when discussing the immigration system, they shift the blame onto refugees—despite the fact that refugees make up no more than 20% of the overall immigration plan.

I understand the backlog but also know that they keep us waiting longer than all other streams so we stay and work and pay the govt taxes because a lot of people leave canada after they get their citizenship..
