I wanted to share two recent experiences with Canadian employers. My field has limited professionals, so getting a job is fairly easy in my field. Found an opening in Canada. Connected with the hiring manager on LinkedIn. No response for 6 months. Out of blue, he came back and asked if I would be interested in the role. I said yes and had three interview rounds. I knew from the process that I am the only candidate they are hiring. After 1 month, they said they are moving with another Candidate and I knew it was a lie, but said thanks for the opportunity. 3 weeks ago, I had a chance to connect with someone who was on the interview panel and learned that he moved to a different company. I DM'ed him and exchanged my number. Last week, I spoke to him in general. Then, I asked what really happened. Since he moved to a new employer, he told me what exactly happened with my hiring. The hiring committee wanted to hire me. They have been looking for a candidate since Nov 2020 and I interviewed for this role in July 2021. However, HR shot the idea of the work permit process. They asked the team to find a local talent as HR suggested getting an outland applicant now is very difficult. Guess what? It's been 7 months and they have not found anyone. This guy told me local talent is shit in Canada and they aren't gonna find anyone. He said getting skilled talents is a herculean task in Canada now. While going through this, I found another job and got the offer. It's a decent one. Very less than what I make in the US which I was okay with. But, as I wait for my PR, my only option is to work remotely and the company needs me to be in person before the end of this financial year. Unfortunately to work remotely, I will have to quit my US job and work from India. I wrote to the new employer to find someone. Coz I don't trust IRCC to issue my PR in the near future. Based on my experience and speaking with similar "High" skilled professionals, I am telling you guys, once you have that fkin PR and if you have a little bit of confidence in you, getting a job is not tough in Canada. Never listen to the bastards who say, doctors, engineers are driving Cab in Canada. They are folks from 3rd rated schools from their 3rd world countries who studied just for the sake of getting a degree. While waiting for the PR, please spend time learning new skills and moreover never lose trust in yourself. I cannot stress enough the value of updating your skills. Never lose hope in you. Never!!!!
