Canada has lost most of its industry and is now reliant on China for any manufacturing.

Not only its industry, but also its land too.

Thing is, majority of companies now prefer eastern europe, middle east and asia for manufacturing. But you'll see that US and EU have a very good amount of product development, R&D, design, testing, quality, implementation etc jobs for all sorts of engineers (ME included). Canada has far fewer such positions so ME (or engineers in general) isn't in great demand in Canada. Any ME job outside of energy/oil&gas/HVAC in Canada is in ON and QC so competition is fierce. That's also kinda why you'll just have to live in ON/QC. It's not fair if you think about it.

I chose Canada back then because its closer proximity to Europe and it seemed easier and cheaper to immigrate to than AUS.

Yeah this was also pretty much why I chose Canada over other alternatives. I hadn't known jack about job markets back then so I didn't even consider it. Going to Canada as an ME, you just gotta get lucky. You might land a really good job in a really good place but that's all luck. You might give it 6-12 months and see what kinda job you can find in Canada. If you don't like what you've found after a year, you can just go back to Europe and search for jobs there.

Heard best job for engineer is SNC-Lavalin. Trudeau bailed them out big time

Depends on what kinda engineer you are. Albeit very few, there are pretty kickass careers in ON and especially QC but I'd rather die than work in QC. ON is okay, it's just too liberal for my taste. Canada needs to make it a mission to become a cheap(er) backyard for PD, R&D, quality etc for the US. That's a good way how they can fix their shitty job market.

someone on holtes stream asked via paid chat when is the next cec draw and holte loosed his mind saying ircc already gave everyone a chance by the historical cec 75 draw and that backlog is one reason why there can't be any draws which sabotaged this years quota
Also the rejection of intl students from india who applied with dependents had a huge refusal rate that many third party agents played the system by making the applicant alone get a permit and apply for SOWP after they land which also created triple to quadriple backlog and ircc is now aware of it and maybe in the future they will limit the number of sowp's

basically the historical 75 along with tr2pr and sowp brought down ircc. which affected aor's from 2018 until now and pre ita folks since 2020
else least cec's would have had chance with no break in their draws.

I am sure IRCC is drooling at the chance to do CEC draws or open TR2PR again but the backlog will never be resolved and IRCC is getting hounded by everyone because of it.

NO! A lot of "world" is working hard to keep its manufacturing capacity. With all its fault EU and even India were able to roll out their vaccine programs and Canada had to depend upon others to supply its vaccines. You know why? Because Canadian government was stupid enough to close Connaught Laboratories in 1980s. Manufacturing is a guarantee of national security.

BTW, Just 10%? And you don't see a problem in it? Manufacturing is the prime source of employment. The reason why people like you can never buy a house is because you don't have a job and; no, mooching off your mom and crying about immigrants on internet is not counted as a job, if ever. A factory job in Manitoba would have allowed even a failure like you to afford a house!
