Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hi all, asking for a friend. She applied in July 2021 and got her AOR in September 2021. Yesterday she found out she has been promoted @ work from 'Junior' to 'Senior' lawyer. She is working at the same law firm as stated on her application. Does she have to provide an update to IRCC?

Thank you all for your replies. Have a great day!

A senior lawyer, eh? And for the answer to such a question, she gets her friend to ask random people on some immigration website? Why would she even think such reporting is necessary? Never mind ... I will just leave it there. :)

Your thoughts were my thoughts as well. I said to her "being lawyers wouldn't someone @ your firm know the answer?" She said "we specialize in commercial litigation, not immigration law".

I said ok I will ask but on the forum I'm on I don't think anyone is an 'immigration specialist'. I said to me most people give answers based on "common sense". Nothing is official. Thank you for your reply.

"Common sense" is they key, and I would expect a lawyer (junior or senior) to have a bit of that. The first step would be to ask questions such as (i) is there any indication that IRCC even cares about such things as job promotions? (ii) is there anything in the citizenship process that requires applicants to report any changes in their employment? (iii) etc.. etc., etc.

IRCC generally states explicitly what changes must be reported for various types of applications, and those can readily be found by using Friend Google or just at their website.

Common sense first. Then get a friend to try random applicants on a random website?

Not mad. Just amused. And amusing myself. :)

I am also trying to save the person and her friend the trouble of waiting for or reading a zillion unhelpful answers. They're welcome!
I get your point, but perhaps the lawyer friend just wanted to have the opinions of several other people. There is safety in number (sometimes) and it is always better to err on the side of caution.

Yes, of course. Common sense or majority opinion on a random website. So, how are the numbers (and safety) looking on this one? :)

50% of the questions on this site can be answered with common sense. Yet people ask because they want the satisfaction and relief that comes when someone confirms their understanding

Am I the only one sitting here shaking my head in utter disbelief? Nope I do have another sane person also doing it, I appreciate that an answer here goes a long way in terms of reassurance and giving you peace of mind until the next question comes up regarding this long and arduous path called 'Canadian Citizenship,' but in all honesty and I mean zero disrespect....but if a person of a legal stature (who is currently assisting and helping individuals) needs to ask such a question...all be it on behalf of someone, then I do wonder how on earth they function on a daily basis.

My response will be seen as having a pop and I promise I'm not but where on earth (as pointed out above) does that common sense really vanish to? I dunno perhaps it's my British upbringing that's looking at this from another angle but my exact first thoughts were....Bloody Norah....is this for real?!

Anyway in closing again, zero disrespect and I wish everyone luck in their quest for the holy grail aka Canadian Citizenship....hoping everyone a speedy and successful conclusion to their apps....like myself who is still in the process.

Cheers
