The pandemic has affected operations, whether we like it or not. It's affected all aspects of life, the notion it wouldn't affect IRCC and application processing times is unrealistic.
Then why the hell an unprecedented target of 401K landings have been set? Revise it and focus resources on landing those who are already stuck in processing since 2020 or earlier!
What was the point of inviting 23K people in Feb? The words and actions do not align.

A target is a target, doesn't mean it will be reached but it's anecdotal evidence at best. Even before the pandemic, some people were getting PPR in 3 or 4 months, some were getting around the year mark or after. It's always been like that, it's only been exacerbated by the pandemic.
No. A target is NOT a target when it betrays your reality. IF they say that they cannot predict timelines, that people should expect more delays then why the hell they are making delays worse by introducing SO many applicants that it not only exceeds but exceeds by a WIDE margin what they had been processing before Pandemic.

This is misrepresentation... When an applicant does it, he is banned for 5 years. I wonder what should happen to IRCC and Canadian immigration minister for committing misrepresentation to the whole world.

Don't expect people to be good when they treat you like a disposable product

IRCC and federal government acting like this makes applicants, pool candidates, all prospective immigrants and whoever comes across this thread realize that IRCC doesn't consider human values that align with Canadian society. Even Canadian citizens are ashamed of it now.

I hope this thread lasts forever to become the history
I completely agree.

But we all have to be a bit careful, Australia clamped down hard on immigration, and Canada could be next.

You guys probably have your AORs submitted and whenever they get approved, you'll be fine. But we have to think about those who come after us.

We can't cross the bridge then burn it after.

Remember also that it's not just a matter of getting PR but also citizenship. It was not long ago that the government made it harder and longer to get citizenship. That was reversed but we don't know what may come next.

My only thing is, give a good impression of immigrants when you're here.

Talking like this is just going make people doubt whether your values align with Canadian society.

There are already politicians talking about mass immigration being a problem here, and now you guys are going to be coming talking about how you're there just to benefit from the system, and have no loyalty to the country.

It's not a good look.

You guys talk about what Canadians think of what this guy said about Canada not owing them anything, well what do you think they will think if they see potential immigrants talking like this about immigrating to their country?

Like it or not, we're all in the same group as new immigrants, and i think it's important to conduct yourself in a way where you aren't seen as leeches who are just there to get what's good for you, and you're not interested in contributing to the country, or developing genuine ties to it.
i feel that when the prospective applicants talk this way will impact those who migrated to Canada recently. but when you talked about the reality considering the pandemic then there is also anther reality that is coming along from the other side i.e. the applicant's side. It's called the "Consequences"

Nobody can run away from the consequences, in this case the whole country will have to face the consequences for the actions taken by the federal government and ircc

Canada could be next. oh yes it may happen but not too soon as they need population.

but least these will keep many applicants and their families from being devastated by the consequences of applying to the IRCC. Least the families and kids aren't going through shit for a federal institution's targets and some lobbyist's personal gain.

We've all been through this though. For example, PR cards pre-pandemic were getting posted 2 weeks after landing for many people, post-pandemic some people had to wait for 6 months. There were delays, it's just how things turned out, i think equating delays with purposeful and intentional disregard for applicants is unfair and unwarranted. I understand the frustration but let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater. There's a lot of anecdotal evidence here, and the people who have gotten their PPRs within the timeline or thereabouts don't stick around here to give their side of the story, so it only amplifies the bitterness on display here.
Imagine, you come to know, that 6 months delay was caused not just by pandemic BUT by a foolish decision of IRCC to embellish PR cards. What will be your reaction?
If IRCC has trouble in maintaining its commitments and estimates for last year, why the hell they want to make this year biggest yet in terms of intake and landing?
If we all have been affected by pandemic, why are they not issuing a blanket extension on CoPR for next 3-4 years and accomodate those who are outside Canada?

It seems when it comes to their own benefit, IRCC and Canadian minister has ALL the flexibility in the world but when it comes to sticking to their commitments (for confirmed PRs and for applicants) they have absolutely NO intention of being transparent nor accomodative. They find all sorts of excuses.

I think this makes sense, but again i don't want to be the one who says someone else has to miss out for someone else to get their application processed quicker. Ideally, both can happen but a bit of patience is in order. Like i said, things have only recently gotten back to normal.

Let them try... Canadian real estate will crash so hard that everyone's pension will be lost. Canada is surviving on its real estate sales. Slow down immigration, temper the expectations and imginations of investors, temper the real estate, crash the real estate, cause everyone in Canada to riot because most of the savings are in forms of real estate captial...
If it were not for their need, Canada is NOT generous at all. No political entity is generous.

Got remed request, in the message there's the form and info (client biodata + summary) only for main applicant, nothing for spouse... so they want remed only for the person for whom they sent the form right?
yup. If you are not sure, better confirm it with IRCC helpline... though they are not exactly helpful.

I'd be annoyed definitely, but we don't know if that's the case.

I agree about the blanket extensions for expired COPR holders, but it may have to do with ensuring medicals are still valid and so on.

Yeah canada or any country can control this real estate if they want their country and economy to be stable, but when a government control it, then the few rich elites can't really benefit from it, so the government leans on to these elites and their lobbyists which in turn affects only the common people who works to survive and not become homeless.

Don’t forget the Afghan refugee crisis they used to hide behind their incompetencies.
Immigrants from outside Canada don’t know what the Canadians are like and what the Canadian values are about. They will make a judgement based on how the immigration treats them same way when 1 Muslim commits a crime, the entire group is labelled as terrorists.

There are still a lot of foreign buyers who aren't even PRs.

That's actually the bigger problem with the housing market here, it's actually very easy to buy property and not even live or have a permanent status in the country. So many foreign buyers buy property, speculate and sell for a profit. Many aren't even rented out in the interim period.

There is a difference between REAL chance and dangling a hope. Till now, IRCC has been dangling a hope to outland applicants at least. If they can make the system fair at the cost of equal and fair negative experince to ALL of us --including CEC/PNP; I am all for it.

We don't know how the pandemic has affected other aspects of the processing behind the scenes.
We don't know part also includes "IRCC does not give a damn!". From the looks of it, that seems to be the most likely explaination.

It shouldn't be used as a blanket excuse but it wasn't all that long ago that there were still lockdowns in Canada.
That does not explains the RECORD level of immigration that is ongoing for inland folks. Face it, IRCC is lying through its teeth. It says it could not answer our queries because of Afghan applicants. Out of 40K or so it processed in august or september, only 1250 were Afghans.

There are still a lot of foreign buyers who aren't even PRs.
You know why those foreign buyers buy the real estate in Canada? Its mainly because of two reasons:

1. For capital gain. If there is no immigraiton, there is not future prospect of demand ergo no sentiment of gain ergo a crash.
2. For their kids of immigrate to Canada. If immigration stops, that possibility goes away. Ergo no more investment in Real estate.

People do not realize how much sentiments/emotions drive prices.
