Spousal Sponsorship and Visitor visa for spouse - Can be applied in parallel?

I am a PR holder. I am in Canada now and my fiancée is in India. I will go to India next month to get married. I understand that I need to apply for spousal sponsorship, but can I also apply for my spouse's visitor visa in parallel since they say it might take 1 or 2 years for the spousal sponsorship to get approved. What's the best way to meet my spouse as soon as possible?
