Passport photo rejected

Good afternoon.

My photo for my passport application was rejected by the officer on suspicion that my photo was altered. The studio just really gave me really crappy quality photo paper and the color saturation and contrast was really bad. So I had to get a new photo on a nearby studio again.

When I went back to the original studio they said I need a rejection letter. The officer did not give me a rejection letter. Does anyone have a copy or sample of the rejection letter? Also can I go back to the passport office to get one?

Thank you!

I think your passport application is not rejected, its only they didn't accept your application. They don't issue any thing for that but if you request the officer they can put stamp on your form. Its big hassle better to go to different photographer

If application got rejected after acceptance you will get formal letter via Ottawa and no refund of fee will be issued. Letter use to arrive in mail in normal circumstance within 15-20 days (with Canada post strike its hard to predict timeline)
Good Luck

Going forward, if it's rejected a 2nd time, go to Shoppers and get your photo done there. If the government refuses it and you keep the receipt you can get the photo redone free of charge.

My photos were rejected by CIC. Any exact reason why?

This is what they sent back...

Image with letter
Image with ID photo

Also. If they sent back my application, will the application period reset to 4 months again?
I checked this with my passport photo and the dimensions of the image seems to be a bit off. I think it has to do with the fact that the image in the photograph isn't in the correct dimensions. Too much of your shoulder is visible and the gap over your head to the border of the photo isn't the same as it is in mine (I was able to successfully apply for a passport with my photo).

Thanks Raj - maybe I will have it scaled up so that the shoulders are cropped. Good to know it's probably not having to retake the photo (initially, maybe my head is not straight perfectly - I have very bad posture).

I got my citizenship application photos taken at Costco back when they still offered it, and the photographer made me retake it several times because my foundation caused white glares on my face with the flash--he told me those photos would get rejected.

Got my passport photo taken and the first guy was really careless. I noticed the white glare on my face on the prints. I went to another guy to get it retaken and made sure there wasn't any glare. Sure it was some extra work and money, but at least it didn't lead to a rejected application.

In Jean Coutu in QC (I don't know if they are available elsewhere in Canada), they have a computer application that detects any glares or wrong proportions, or position ... etc before the print. I have never had an issue with them.
