I would just call the border and ask. That's the only correct answer here.

I think it goes to the back of the queue, but I'm not 100% sure. You can always contact the IRCC and ask them about it.

They will return it before they issue an AoR. The AoR is their way of saying your application is complete and will be sent to your local IRCC office.

I only received the invite by email. There's no way to really know why it took so long, but it did. It's not outside of the norm either.

They sent me my invitation by email first, and then updated eCAS the next day. If you provided an email address, they will email it to you; otherwise, you receive it via snail mail, and you may see the status change. Honestly, you very likely won't get the test invite any time soon- today marks...

You can apply with an expired passport- they even ask for it! They do want you to explain why you didn't renew it though.

I am not spreading wrong information though. It does tell you that you MUST attend all of the appointments- and you can't do that if you're not in the country! Since the test invitation arrives 9.5 times out of 10 by email, you might have enough notice to tell them about you won't be able to...
