Thanks for adding this. Definitely; most STEM occupations are regulated so outlanders don't even stand a chance. But you know, it's still not very bright after getting your designation. Canada lacks so far behind US and EU in STEM sadly.

I think just Houston tops Canada in most non IT stem jobs. That place is a big hub for manufacturing and Tesla is now going to Texas.

I highly disagree, getting a job in Canada depends on your qualification. I have seen many chartered Accountants who got their CPA Canada in their home country or after going there are now working at Director level positions.

Improve your skillset and get either US or Canadian certifications in order to ensure your financial success in Canada.

The discussion was about the STEM job markets; accountants are not in STEM.

Oh sorry thought it was general. But I still know people who were mechanical engineers in their home countries. Did some international certifications and now are working in the field of Robotics. And I have heard there is a high demand for them with huge pay checks

International certifications are not relevant in Canada's (non-software) engineering ecosystem or legislation. Engineers, including mechanical engineers, need to be certified by the engineering association of their province. Especially so for Robotics, if you compare Canada's job market to Sweden, Switzerland, or Netherlands, "High demand" and "huge" are very inaccurate. All my engineer friends are employed in Canada but the question was never "Is literally every single mechanical engineer unemployed in Canada?". We're comparing "job markets", and the way to do it is by comparing how many jobs are opened at a time, how often do they open again, how often do new jobs get posted, what is the purchasing power that job's salary translates into, how "skilled" is the job etc.

You see, "my friend got a job" is not enough data. Again, literally all my engineer friends are employed in Canada. Those who found jobs in US or EU are doing far, far better. Forget the US or EU, even my third-world country has cutting-edge tech jobs you could've never found in Canada. Canada is far behind in many areas of STEM, especially engineering.

It doesn't end there. It's interesting to see all the crazy stuff people do to get PR:
1) getting fake IELTS certificate
2) paying people to get NOC B job / LMIA job
3) running payrolls (fake jobs) by paying lawyers / agencies
4) coming here as visitors / students and claiming refugee status
5) getting married to someone by paying them to get PR etc etc. (I had met one guy who was claiming he had somehow went to UK by hiding in a truck, worked there for 10 years on cash, then got caught and deported. After that he paid a girl who's a PR in Canada to get married and get PR)


In knew such people exist everywhere. But didnt know there are so many such people till I came to Canada

how can you fake an ielts when you have a unique identifier tied to it?

I live in Houston ,what you said is right here there is a lot of jobs and less people to work.Where ever you go you can see 'Now hiring signs .In my company even for associate job they raised the pay still has a hard time in finding candadates.I think tesla is going to Austin not Houston.
There are plenty lof jobs for Mech,Industrial,chemical,petroleum,Biomedical,supply chain.......

And this why we are in this delayed mess now lol. And why my country's passport is piss weak. I really think one of the main reasons they are delaying outlands is the risk of bad apples potentially breaking quarantine, faking tests, faking proof of vaccination, whatever.

On another note, how does one actually fake their IELTS certificate and job credentials and expect not to get found out? When they actually try to use any of those fake credentials at work, it won't take long for them to be found out anyway

I am a chem eng. and if Canada immigration doesn’t work out, my plan B is Houston. I studied there before and fell in love with the city.

That sounds intresting ,If you have a chance to be in Houston .Why even bother about canada?I have been to Torronto ,It is nothing compared to Houston.I heard calgary/Halifax is good though(never been there).Torronto looked like a huge mess for me.

That make sense. Once you get a citizenship in Canada you can move to US in Tn1 visa.
I thought under Biden they made some changes.

Toronto is pricey and housing costs seem over the top. Calgary isn't as big of a city but it looks cheaper and there's Banff just right nearby over an hour drive away. I'd probably end up in Alberta/Calgary since most of my jobs as a chemist/chemical engineer are there. It does have its kind of backwards social reputation but then I've lived most of my US years in Mississippi so there's that.
