Canada’s 2021 federal election is officially a go. Here’s how it will work

After months of speculation, the 2021 Canadian federal election is officially on.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau confirmed on Sunday that he spoke with the newly-minted Gov. Gen. Mary Simonearlier in the day and asked her to pull the plug on the minority government he has led since October 2019.

Election Day will be Sept. 20, meaning the campaign will be a tight five weeks long.
Just about to be done with the stupid election. Not sure if it was worth locking the whole country down for 2 years but no matter, it'll be good when this nonsense is over.

I doubt if the Liberals would secure the majority position though but that’s the least of my concern right now
I doubt it too. When asked what would be done differently since the conservatives haven't really set his government back with regards to decision making, he didn't answer the question. People can see through this stuff and because of that, they might be blowing $500m on this election for nothing.

I feel this election they are more focused in preserving their government rather than actually believing in a majority. 2 years from now, the post pandemic bomb would explode on them, leaving them quite frágil against opposition.

He probably initially planned for a majority by locking up the country till a high vaccination level would be achieved, while of course lockdown flexing at home for public support, then he'd end the pandemic in Canada and call the election sooner and win it with a majority govt just before opening the borders. But it all backfired. Vaccines arrived too late. Right now he's executing his plan B which is what you said.

They might clinch a few seats though, making them require less support from other parties.
I'll laugh so hard at the complete 180 about the whole lockdown thing after they're elected again.

Everything indicates that we would start seeing more finalizations and movements as well as resumption of all program draws after the travel restrictions are removed. Let’s stay calm and see how it goes
Just pray that border opening goes as planned on the 7th..
