While I recognize the "
forecast" about what IRCC will say was really just another derisive snipe, not far from schoolyard taunting and generally not deserving acknowledgement let alone comment, to be clear there is a high probability the IRCC report for the fiscal year April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021 will be no better, and quite likely significantly worse than what
they currently report for the fiscal year April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020, which is that they processed just 65% of fully complete, routinely processed applications within the 12 month TARGET service standard. To put that in perspective, Covid-19 had no impact on processing applications until near the very end of that time period.
Obviously, no crystal ball necessary to see that IRCC did not do so well this past year, not nearly as well as it was doing prior to the impact of the global pandemic.
For anyone placing bets on who will be exposed as the liar here, remember the forecast/snipe comes from a source who deliberately makes false or misleading posts, such as falsely claiming there was a Canada Supreme Court decision dictating particular procedural standards for processing citizenship applications (spoiler alert: there is no such decision). In contrast, any Canadian (including PRs in Canada) can submit an ATI request for information specifically in regards to the full data set for what IRCC reports, and examine, review, analyze, and evaluate the report, the data, and a whole lot of other information.
IRCC will reveal its sources.
Making such a request requires doing some homework, and may require some payment of costs, but this is precisely the kind of information the ATI procedure is intended to give the public access. It is also precisely the kind of information which genuine activists need and can use to advance the cause here, to encourage IRCC to do a better job processing citizenship applications timely. Make no mistake, letters to MPs, efforts to solicit media attention, and generally making the case to others who can be encouraged to add their voice, their concern, to the cause . . . make no mistake, communication based on real information, actual data, is the ONLY way to effectively push this cause. The blowhard baloney in sound bites trimmed for the attention-impaired will NOT help. Period. This is so blatantly obvious, so clearly counterproductive, it is likewise obvious that the purveyors of such tripe are deliberately engaged in disruption and distraction.
Sure, I realize that blowhard baloney in sound bites trimmed for the attention-impaired is nonetheless popular, but for those who are genuinely interested in being informed about these matters, and using that information to advance the effort to hold IRCC accountable,
for those who really do care, doing the homework, getting real data, real information, and incorporating what is learned into credible arguments, that is the path to effective advocacy. Anything else is inane trollesque distraction.
Contrary to unfounded slander, I can and do read the room. I understand that the more vociferous participants here are indeed more focused on spouting scorn than pursuing effective advocacy. (I cannot help wondering, though, if there are more than a few Americans among them, since the empty rhetoric, the unbridled disdain, and disregard for what might actually accomplish anything positive, let alone disassociation from fact, so emphatically echoes what we see happening to our south.) But there is a REAL PROBLEM. And while it is readily apparent that IRCC has picked up the pace considerably, it sure appears they need some pressure to do better, a lot better. Some real accountability is called for.
I know there are many in this forum who have applications bogged down and who are frustrated for good reason. They DESERVE a discussion focused on getting the best information available. They deserve a concerted and coordinated effort to effectively advocate for improvements at IRCC. It is time for someone to step up and get some real data. Let's see some real homework.
