Facebook/Twitter etc etc ,Protests outside CIC offices really wont help unless someone collapses under the heat . The only way is to file a petition to the court from all the applicants else nothing will happen .

The "advocates" Facebook group had been leading this. They should know what can be done at this point.

Did the protests help the spouses? There were some protests starting to happen for "citizens" (I think that's what we are?) and it also coincided with the online test program launch. Maybe protests then do help (it is all about PR)?
protests will only help if they are huge. Never heard of any protest outside Montreal office. There is no update on advocate facebook page too .

Can you summarize for us? I don’t speak French and my page translator doesn’t work… I gathered that QC employees will be required to work at least two days in the office and that is permanently?

About 60,000 employees and managers of the Quebec government will be required to report to the office at least two days a week from January 2022. The other three days, they will be able to telework, the President of the Treasury Board announced on Wednesday. Sonia LeBel, and the Minister of Labor, Jean Boulet.
This formula of at least two days face-to-face will not be temporary, said the two ministers. The directive will become permanent after the pandemic, following the filing of a framework policy by Ms. LeBel.

By then, public servants who have been teleworking for more than 15 months now will begin to gradually return to their workplaces as of September 7. Remember that although full-time teleworking is no longer compulsory due to the improvement in the pandemic situation, public health nevertheless recommends maintaining it until the end of the summer.

Quebec considers that its officials have demonstrated their productivity in teleworking throughout the pandemic. The government wants to give them the possibility of continuing tasks at home, while ensuring a partial presence in the office.

On a voluntary basis
At the start of 2022, teleworking as provided for in the framework policy will be deployed throughout the public service. It will be offered on a voluntary basis, for a maximum of three days per week and alternating with the practice of activities in the workplace , we read in a press release published on the sidelines of the press conference.

The government also strongly recommends that all Quebec businesses immediately adopt a return to work protocol in order to ensure a safe work environment for employees and to implement the necessary preventive measures to limit the spread of the disease. coronavirus.

Savings for the State
In addition to the flexibility it provides to workers in particular in terms of work-family reconciliation, teleworking also allows the government to make interesting economies of scale, whether in terms of space occupation, energy expenditure, etc. furniture, etc.

We have an impact on our government spending. We have seen that in the first months of the pandemic we had several million dollars [in savings] , said Sonia LeBel at a press briefing.

We have everything to gain from modernizing our way of doing things.

The possibility of sharing weeks of work between the office and the home is also an interesting incentive to attract workers in the current context of labor shortage, adds the Minister of Labor, Jean Boulet.

I have visited companies and constantly I am told that teleworking is an asset in terms of recruitment and retention of the workforce.
A quote from:Jean Boulet, Minister of Labor of Quebec
This new hybrid employment policy will apply only to government employees covered by the Civil Service Act.

By the nature of their work, employees of the health and education network will not have this possibility.

Civil servants want flexibility
The Syndicat de la function publique et parapublique du Québec (SFPQ) welcomes this possibility of combining telework and face-to-face work . Its president, Christian Daigle, however, asks that employees be able to volunteer. While some officials appreciated the benefits of telecommuting, others did not like their experience at all and are eager to return to the office.

We want the employer to ask them if they have an interest in teleworking and that it be accessible to as many people as possible.
A quote from:Christian Daigle, President of the SFPQ
According to him, the government has an interest in consulting state employees to set the parameters of this new way of working. We also want there to be respect in the choice of days. We do not want the employer to determine that everyone is teleworking on Monday and Wednesday. It must respect the choice of employees as much as possible.

Exceptions may apply depending on the nature of the work and the duties of the employee.

I know perfectly well that ircc are not employees of the provincial government. I simply shared this information with a view to "opening up" and ending teleworking for government employees ...
Hopefully the government of ontario and others will follow ...

The more departments open and provincial governments open, the less meaningful the arguments and whining of the Federal Employees Union will be. to keep the code 699, by attacking the decision of the secretariat of the Treasury Board of Canada which regulates and rationalizes the use of the code 699, to avoid the abuses of the public money of honest taxpayers)

Anyway, I think that's good news for us.

To me we are simply numbers and no matter how much news out there nothing will change. Just wait , people like to work from home, people like to avoid commutes . So no points arguing the facts

If we could only, thru the Advocates, push them to give an estimate, or some clarity, on how (when) will the backlog be addressed....

They can always say they have this (nearly) useless online test, but when/how will they REALLY address the backlog?
