Student visa to Visitor visa

Hey Guys,

I’m applying for my PR under CEC and I am currently in Canada with a student visa.
My student visa expires in end of November, and I’m not planning to extend it (because I want to wait for PR so I don’t have to pay international student tuition).

I was wondering if I don’t get my PR before November, is it possible to change my status from student visa to visitor visa and wait for the CoPR in Canada? Or should I go back to my country risking COVID?

Just wondering because I got my AOR in April. No updates since May 18th on the CIC…

Yes - you can apply to change your status from student to visitor so that you can remain in Canada.
