Hi Sept 2020 friends. In the new platform, my background check says In Progress. From GCMS not I received last month, I think RCMP and criminality checks are done (so no FP needed). It is CSIS screening which is ongoing and holding the background check In Progress I think. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

will test invitation come only after background check is completed? Myfile is still in Sydney. I think the file stays there until CSIS is done and background check is completed, then it will be transferred to local office and then the test. Is this correct?

l’ve seen sometimes CBSA is involved in screening as well. But I don’t see CBSA in my GCMS note, does it mean CBSA step won’t be needed? Or they can add it to note in future? It seems when they start processing the application they add all needed steps in the note.

Your feedback and answers to my questions would be highly appreciated. I’m going to request GCMS note from CSIS.
Mine is in progress as well. Unfortunately I was a victim of this process so called comprehensive security screening during my pr application as well. It’s discriminatory and without a reason. It will affect processing time significantly. CSIS send a report to CBSA and CBSA has to send the final verification to IRCC. Before covid csis could send the report in a couple of months and the big issue was cbsa delays. My background is simple lived in canada around 10 years, studied and worked. So all my past background is here. Also, I do have 10 year federal clearance because of my job and still after a year ircc couldn’t verified my background?? I have requested atip notes from ircc and csis and waiting to see the outcome.

Thank you for your reply. I don’t see any reason for myself as well for being in a longer screening. I’ve lived in Canada for more than ten years.

I received GCMS note from CIC last month. CSIS screening is mentioned there as in process. There is nothing mentioned about cbsa in my note. I’m hoping this means cbsa screening is not needed, not sure though.

Does your GCMS notes has actual case notes? My actual case notes were redacted completely and mention of RCMP/CSIS check column was omitted but I still figured out from the half remaining characters on what the section was.

So much for living in Canada for a decade, never even left this country for a day. I can see November 2020 applicants already have their background completed.

I’m hoping this means cbsa screening is not needed, not Csis creates a report and sends to cbasa and cbsa is the department that responds to ircc. Not trying to scare you but last time it took more than 2 years for me despite csis responded in two months to cbsa. I had to go with mandamus and I am thinking the same thing this time. I am waiting for my notes from both csis and ircc and if they started this process, I would not hesitate to hire a lawyer and start the mandamus in a few months.

Interesting trend, so they do comprehensive check for people who lived longer in canada despite that their background is easier to track. I am an april applicant and still background in process.

In my note, I see that RCMP part is passed. I see the CSIS updated date, and its current status which is in progress. I think there were some pages removed though but I can see this much at least. The due date for csis was early April 2021, but seems they don’t have to meet that deadline. Is your file in Sydney or in local office ?

Have you ever requested CSIS GCMS note? What do you see in GCMS note from CIC if you have one ? Do you know if your file is in Sydney or local office ?
I think wit background in process, they keep the file in Sydney, not sure though.

Interesting. My file is at local office - confirmed through case notes and the contact center agent but who knows. They tend to give different answers everytime you call. Lol. One contact center person told me FP was not required, case notes said FP required, I call again and they say yes it's required so....

And yes, those deadlines are just because the application requires putting a date in.

Interesting. So they do send file to local office even with incomplete background check. At least they did that for you. Aligned with your comment about the agents, an agent told me after the background check completion the file gets transferred to the local office.

I also took the test just now, my result is 20/20.
Read the book once or twice, then do ALL practice tests you find until the point it gets boring and tiring :D.
My wife has yet to take it, in a couple of days.
