Not only fake covid tests. Many are not quarantining properly. After the covid hotel many don't isolate and go live with family and some of the family still leave the home spreading covid to the community or go out themselves. Canada can't even afford to have people spreading covid to their families even if they don't go out for 14 days. We just don't have the ICU beds or general hospital capacity for more patients than absolutely necessary.

You have to obtain a new PCR test in the transit country and will have to follow their covid rules which may involve quarantine in the transit location. Getting to Canada will be long and expensive and in some transit locations it won't be possible.

Only direct flights. Still can go through indirect routes?
Looks like its not easy way around the ban. Lets say, you have connecting flight through Heathrow, then you need to produce proof of negative test from London Heathrow/ UK which is your last departure. Technically, you will have to test in the UK. Its risky move... copy paste below from Minister of Transport

“Alghabra said air passengers who depart from India or Pakistan but arrive in Canada via a third country will need to produce a negative result on a COVID-19 test taken at their last point of departure before being allowed to enter Canada.”

If you are from India you can't enter the UK at the moment. If you are from Pakistan you'll need to get a UK visa and you may need to quarantine in the UK for 10 days and then get a PCR test in order to get to Canada. Most airports do not offer PCR tests in the airport especially in the transit area so you'll need enter the UK which involves visas, potential quarantine, etc.

Just checked, Turkey is one of the few that actually has a PCR tests facility at the airport.

What if you end up testing +ve in Turkey?
I think it's up to Turkish government. You likely cannot continue your jounary. There is always a risk to travel through another country.
I didn't keep up with what's going on in Turkey. I just post because someone claimed that can be done there and I wanted to verify.

You need to test -ve before the flight to Turkey as well.
As of December 30, 2020, passengers arriving in Turkey are required to submit a negative PCR test (nucleic acid). The sample for the test must have been taken within 72 hours prior to the passenger's scheduled departure from the country of origin.

  • Passengers of 6 years and older who have ben to India within the last 10 days are required, before boarding, to submit a negative PCR test result with a sample collected within the last 72-hours prior to departure.

I am sure more countries will try to close the loop hole as being a hub for travelling from India to other countries that has implemented travel restrictions.

Looks like people are not that concerned about the double/triple covid variant, just hellbent on getting to canada
As their money are stuck in canada so yep. Second virus will always mutate so it is going to stay here forever (one way or another)
Note * i am not against the flight ban as borders will open whenever it is going to open.
