Hi Seniors,

Once an Application for Citizenship is submitted:

-What is AOR?
-How do we get a confirmation whether the application is received or not
-Whether it is complete in all respects?
-Do we have to physically present all the docs for which photo copies have been submitted in the application file
-When do we come to know whether is english test is needed.

Request a rough frame work f time lines all these steps...if possible.

Best Regards

AOR : Acknowledgment of receipt of your documents by IRCC, which you'll get by mail. You at least got one during your PR process...
A completness check is made before the AOR, if you get it, it means you're good and it's being processed. WHich doesn't mean that IRCC will not ask for this or that document down the road, but that's another story.
Also, yes, you're supposed to have the actual documents with you for the interview (well, when interviews were still a thing, before the pandemic), but in practice, they don't ask for it and they stay in your bag...
And finally, an english/french test is needed if you don't already have a language proof.Check this : https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/canadian-citizenship/become-canadian-citizen/eligibility/language-proof.html

Good luck!

Hi Seym,

Thanks for your response regarding AOR. How long does it usually take to get the AOR after submission of physical file submissions? Do you advise online application

The fact regarding my English proof is that it I have only got a photocopy of my IELTS Exam result, taken in 2014. I submitted my original while doing the PR application in 2018.

So should I :
-Arrange to get a Duplicate of my IELTS exam result and then apply using that document?
or
-Use my Graduation and Post Graduation Degree ad Transcripts...they are in English
or
-I have done a course called "Investment Funds in Canada", for which I have a certificate . This course is used in banking industry.

I don't have any convincing answer on this topic uptill now. Pls advise

No idea how long it takes tbh. It varies a lot between applications at normal times, let alone now...
And again, no idea whether you should go with a paper or an online application. Probably doesn't change much.

As for the language proof, I'm not knowledgeable enough to tell you exactly what you should do, but, in my case, I sent a copy of my diploma and transcripts. These are acceptable proofs if the degree was in english (or french!). A single course probably doesn't qualify, so I'll stay away from that. Regarding the ielts, I'll let others answer.

Good luck!

Photocopy of the ielts is fine ...that’s what I used too. I also included 1 cert with its transcript; I don’t think including all is necessary. Also no need for certifications. You should be fine with the copy of ya ielts and a cert/transcript ...it worked for me. Goodluck

Hi Blingyrie,

Thanks for your response.

I thought I can submit only one documents as proof of english. But if its ok to send more than one then I too can send my IELTS photocopy+ Post Graduation Diploma+ Graduation Degrees

Just to bring to your notice that the PG Diploma and Graduation Degree are in English but no where do they mention that the medium of instruction for the subjects studied was English. So do they solve the purpose.?

So if you applied under any of these streams for your pr, just the photocopy of your ielts will suffice. If you did not, you would need a cert for education you received with English as its medium of instruction. Click on the “complete list” for more info. Hope this helps.

For Q 13 did anyone list visit visas as well? They want to know immigration status should visit visas be included?
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/application-forms-guides/guide-0002-application-canadian-citizenship-under-subsection-5-1-adults-18-years-older.html#Step3
Question 13.
Tell us if you have had immigration, permanent resident status and/or citizenship in any other country outside of Canada (e.g. your country of birth)Check either yes or no.
  • If you check yes, complete the chart.
  • Tell us which countries you have held status in, and exactly what status you held or currently hold (student, employment/worker, refugee/protected person, permanent resident or citizen). ****Visit isn’t listed so I wouldn’t bother ...I didn’t include it either.
