Hi, I’m a citizen and resident status in Canada. My married partner is working and living outside Canada. We used to visiting and living with each other inside and outside Canada for past years since marriage.
Could I sponsor my officially married partner via OUTLAND application ? Sending it to the office in Sydney?
Is it ok for me travel outside Canada during the application period? Thanks

Hi, I've got a couple questions.

In form 5533, on page 8 I should provide documents from 2 sets of documents.

- Proof of joint ownership
- Rental Agreement with both names
- Joint Utility accounts
- Vehicle Insurance
- Copies of gov't ID
- Other documents

We are living in an apartment owned by my wife's mother, so we don't have a rental agreement (and obviously don't own it). Also, we don't have any joint utility accounts, and don't own a car. Am I able to provide a written letter from her mother, explaining that we are living in her apartment, and use that as the 'rental agreement'?

We both have a registration stamp in our passports (her Russian passport, and my Canadian passport, since I am a temporary resident here). Can I include this as the 'Government ID'?

My wife used to work for an insurance company. While working for them, she made insurance for me. It has since expired. Would this be possible to use? It would have her name as the person who made it, so I am not sure if it will be seen as 'suspect'.

Assuming you're married to each other, yes.

Are you applying as common law or married?

The letter from mother won't hurt, the registration is a bit like showing lease/joint living, and yes, partly also a government document - and I don't see why the insurance wouldn't work (car insurance?), although you may want to disclose that your wife worked there (and just helped you get it).

Since you don't have joint utility or other accounts, try to show shared expenses by receipts/orders that were delivered that clearly are for household use. Transfers to/from each other to cover expenses wouldn't hurt.

Hopefully those things will work. After you submit, keep track of some such things in case they come back later asking for additional documentation. (Any kind of 'joint expenses' can work but it is more clear if it's hosuehold - furniture, getting something fixed by plumber, etc - Ikea's more convincing than a movie ticket).

I asked about married/common law because the bar to demonstrate a real relationship and living together is different - if it fits and makes sense with other relationship proof, hopefully will be okay. It's a fair bit harder to demonstrate the joint residency test for common law.

Our big problem is that we lack anything that has both of our names on it. We have things that show the same address, but nothing that has both names together. Will this be a problem?

With the letter from her mother, is it safe to check the box about 'rental agreement' or should I only check the last box, and provide the other information with the explanation of not checking 2 boxes?

If it's a rental agreement you have with the mother and you are paying money, check that box. If it's just a letter, you decide - you could check it and a short explanation, or do it the other way.

For the other stuff, you can include a short explanation that some types of "joint" accounts do not exist in Russia, hence that's why you're showing things and receipts showing you live at same address, etc.

Hello, regarding a proof of cohabitation, we do not have any joint agreement in our name. We stayed in a flat with my friends name on the agreement as I continued my stay in the same flat after marriage. Can I get a copy of that agreement and a letter from him stating that we stayed as guests in his flat to submit as a proof of cohabitation.

Also, could you please let me know if we need to provide whatsapp chat history dating back to months or just most recent (like 10 days) is enough?

Thank you

Hi, pls advise regarding questions about ‘ Are you and your spouse CURRENTLY living together?’
If we used to live together for a few months for each past years of marriage, how should we answer the question?
We do not or own any property together. Bank accounts are individual. Didn’t keep those air tickets / boarding passes... sigh~~~
Many thanks
