Hi, a settlement org helped me to do my work permit application. I'm glad that they helped me but they input the old address instead of the new address and it's currently going to the wrong address (not where I'm living). I already updated my address with IRCC three weeks before receiving the confirmation letter for work permit being mailed. If anyone could help me solve this problem, that would be awesome. I have a few questions regarding the work permit:

1. Will it be a registered mail?
2. Is there any way to track it or does the government track it (whether it's received or send back)?
3. What to do now?

Any help/advice would be much appreciated. Thank you very much for taking the time to read this thread.

If anyone has received a work permit through mail recently, could you please tell me how long it took to receive the paper through mail, please? I just want to calculate how many days it usually takes. Please help anybody.

1. It is not a registered mail, just regular.
2. WPs are sent out from the IRCC office in Edmonton regardless of your province of residence.
3. You may have to coordinate with whoever is living at your old address in order to get your letter from there.

OMG, thank you so much for responding. I really appreciate your advice. Do you know by any chance how long it may take to get the paper? It's been 15 days now. Once again, thank you very much and God bless.

I'm on my 3rd WP since claiming. All of them arrived within 2 weeks of being approved online.
Thanks a lot, the address wasn't complete and Canada post told me that it might've prob been sent back to the sender. Gotta call IRCC tomorrow. Thanks a lot for your response. Really appreciate it. :)

Did they tell you to wait? I called them and explained the situation. But IRCC told me to wait and they wanna see if it'll be returned and then they will send another copy to me. Talked to them about four times now, and got the same answer.

Thank you very much for your response. Much appreciated. :)

I have the same problem right now
I still havent received my work permit and its been like over a month since i got my work visa approved
I wonder if its best to just go to the border instead?
My lawyer did an inquiry through webform to ircc when we got our visa and up to now, theres still no update
Im so eager to start processing the things i need and start working but i can't...
I tried calling IRCC number but its doesnt put me on hold. it will drop the call once it will say that theres a long volume of call
Im so stuck right now and dont know what t do.

Hello,
I'm sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, there isn't much to do if you don't know the people who live at that residence. You could try to get in touch with them if you know them. In my case, I waited about a month and then reported the work permit missing or stolen (No way to retrieve it). And then IRCC mailed a new work permit. Please keep on trying to get in touch with IRCC. I wish you the best of luck. Take care. :)

yeah i dont think i would be able to retrieve that..so can you help me how you informed IRCC about it? I did search on how to get a replacement but it indicated that i need a police report?? or do i just need to fill out the form and pay the fee?

I talked to them on phone. Let them know that it was going to the wrong address. They told me to wait (Unfortunately there is no way to track it) and after a month, called IRCC again and told them that there is no way for me to retrieve it and then they mailed a new copy.

When you talk to an agent, just make sure they understand that the work permit is NOT coming to your address and you DON'T have any means to retrieve it (Most of the times they think that there's a delay and that's why you haven't gotten it). Then they will mail you a new copy. I didn't need any police reports. And there is no payment that you have to make since you are a refugee claimant. I hope this helps. :)

Thats the problem, you can't reach them through phone...it will put you on series of prompt then at the end it will say high volume of calls and will end the call...it will not put you on hold for the que..i have kept calling the number since the other day...
And im not a refugee claimant...hehehe i got my work visa through HSW program..
Is it possible to just go to the border instead?

Hi, sorry but that's all I know about it. Your lawyer might be able to provide more details. I wish you the best of luck. :)
