Hi

I sponsored my father under the Parents PR category. After a year we received Ready for VIsa mail (passport request) in the email. My mom was listed in the application as dependent. The mail says my Dad's name only for passport submission. However, it doesn't mentions my mom's name. Will there be another email for her or does this email includes both of them automatically.
My dad is the principle applicant.

The mail does includes "Please provide two (2) recent photographs along with your passports for yourself and each accompanying dependent. For instructions on photo requirements and specifications, see: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/pdf/5445EB-e.pdf"

and

  • VFS is our trusted partner for safe and secure passport transmission. Using VFS services is the only way to submit your passport. Contact VFS in India (www.vfsglobal.ca/canada/india) or in Nepal (www.vfsglobal.ca/canada/Nepal) and pay the requisite fees for the Passport Transmission Services . A separate envelope is required for each passport.

Please suggest.
Thanks

Hello Kunal

I am in the same situation, sponsored my parents and received a letter for passport submission with my father's name and UCI number. We filled out separate passport submission forms for VFS for both of them but VFS only sent the payment request and collected passport for my father and nothing for my mother so far.
There are 30 days for passport submission and it has already been 12 days and so far we have heard nothing from VFS. Does VFS know that the dependent applicant's passport is submitted with the same letter as the principal applicant?

Did VFS accept your mother's passport at the same time as your father's?

Thanks
Saurav

Contact VFS and advise that there are two applicants (PA + dependent). Some other applicants in India had this issue with VFS, where VFS did not understand/denied and claimed only got letter for one. It is their mistake/confusion.

I have emailed VFS a few times and they are not replying. I have tried calling their number and no one answers. At this stage I am not sure how to contact VFS. Do you have any ideas on how to contact VFS

I found the online chat function to be the only bearable way (different country though). Prepare for having to repeat to check that they got it.

Another point, the chat line seems to be global and you'll get bumped a few times where they try to find someone who can answer quesiton about specific office and file. (Mind, same thing with the phone lines). And it is as hit and miss as any call centre/online chat staffing - sometimes you get a good one, sometimes you get someone who doesn't know much of anything.

Hi Saurav

Yes, my dad took the letter and both passports to VFS. They accepted both passports. One of the lines in letter says:

"Please provide two (2) recent photographs along with your passports for yourself and each accompanying dependent. "

So think that should include your mom as well. I would suggest to submit both.

That's very helpful - key note, I did not know that in India they are accepting in-person submissions. Problem described above is arranging for submission by courier (in India), where if submitting by courier, you have to pay for the courier (the courier they use) for pick-up.

Obviously easier would be to submit passports in person and pay the fees in person for both passports.

I agree! I am not sure how the courier thing is happening in India but as the letter does mentions about "each accompanying dependent", I would for sure send both passports.
Good Luck!

Yes, you must send them together. Only minor task is convincing the staff that this is the way it works, since some of then think there should be a letter for each person (and it is quite clearly not the case).

Kunal submitted his parent's passport in 2018, it was in person. Now due to Covid, VFS is only accepting courier pick-up and drop off which is terrible service. They sent a payment link to my father and got the courier to pick-up his passport but it's been 2 weeks and VFS has not sent the payment link for my mother. I sent a few emails to VFS and no response. CIC mentioned in the passport request letter that the passport must be submitted within 30 days and its already been 15 days.

Ah, sorry, didn't see that it was referring to 2018 - some countries are now accepting in person, some not. Try the chat.

I don't know if it's possible to work something out by going in person on days it is open eg for biometrics. Haven't had to try that.
