But what can we do other than vent anonymously on an obscure online forum. Kicked out of our countries, haven't seen our families in years, don't know when, in a world wide pandemic, what would this bad treatment for a few more years matter.
Agree as well

I know all my rights and benefits and options sorry to hear that you don't unfortunately. I know the IRCC cares me about me and others, sorry they don't care about you. and this forum isn't as anonymous as you think lol. it's the internet easily traced and tracked. if simple and easier jobs are a mess right now why don't you think the IRCC is the same, the whole entire process is always changing to see what is more effective or find another way to accomplish their quota?? and as we like to repeat over and over everyone case is DIFFERENT. different backgrounds, different type of refugee claims, different information on their applications. Imagine if this was like getting a visa or making claim again some of you on here would have went crazy by now. cause it would be if they wanted to grant it to you or not. This process is guaranteed acceptance. Be grateful, some have been waiting from 2018 and still nothing. i agree to disagree.

I think you should pay attention to what I am saying before you decide to suck up to them Ms "I know my rights but the government is also tracking me lol". Everyone who has their application COMPLETED is now in the same process. There are no differences. There is no reason some should wait for months while others be processed in a day. Maybe you dont care to be reunited with your family. Maybe you are a refugee because of your family. I love my family and want fair treatment. So if you dont agree maybe keep your opinion to yourself. Because obviously you have no problems.
No....
The real ans is its hard to put our feet in other's shoes.... and empathy is the word we all heard of but we dont have it......i totally agree with you @xer012. May God ease our pain....

I understand that some of us are frustrated and anxious. But we really do not know if these people are really slacking off or actually working to the best of their ability giving current circumstances. we don't if they themselves are sick or have someone suffering from covid or even lost someone due to it. remember everything was shut down for like 2-3 months. that's probably 1000's or 10,000 applications maybe even more that were delayed. Let's think positive for ourselves and others. and yes some of us haven't seen our loved ones in months or years but thats alot of people right now protected class or not.
I agree

So FUNNY response after waiting 26 months My Application is still in first step

Good day,

Thank you for contacting Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Due to the ongoing situation related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), some IRCC offices are currently operating with reduced or critical staff only.

We are working on processing applications as quickly as possible; however, processing times are affected and any disruptions caused by COVID-19 may not be reflected accurately on our website. We will make all the necessary efforts to finalize your application as soon as possible.

Rest assured that you will be informed as soon as a decision is reached or if additional information is needed.

In the meantime, we would like to present you with useful information that will help you understand the current status of your application.

When you send an Application for Permanent Residence in Canada - Protected Persons and Convention Refugees, the process is done in two steps:

  • Step 1: Approval in Principle
The first step is to verify if you are eligible to apply for the permanent resident status as a protected person or convention refugee. If you meet the requirements, you will receive a letter stating that your application is approved in principle.

  • Step 2: Final Decision
The second step is to see if you meet all the eligibility requirements to obtain the permanent residence. During this stage of the process, background and medical verifications are done for you and your dependent family members, if applicable.

Your application is currently in the first of the verification process. It means that:

  • Your application was received at the Case Processing Centre in Mississauga (CPC-M), Ontario, on October 3, 2018.
  • The next step will be to make a decision on your eligibility. Rest assured that we will communicate with you once it is available.
  • The background verifications are currently in process.
  • Your medical examination results on file are currently valid and you will be contacted if necessary.
The next step in the process will be to make a final decision in regards to the application. Rest assured that we will communicate with you once a decision has been reached in your file.

You may visit our processing times page to find out how long it may take to process your application. However, the processing times indicated on our website are approximate, and can vary with each individual case.

We hope the information provided is helpful in assisting you with your enquiry.

We would also like to suggest the following online services that might be helpful to you with any immigration, refugee and/or citizenship future requests:

Sincerely,
