Sorry to hear what happened to you. Unfortunately, if your current status has expired, then you lose implied status when your application gets sent back to you. So yes, you have to apply for restoration as well and that is $200.
I just can't believe I missed that signature, depressing honestly after more than 7 months but.. gotta keep going. Could you please tell me what you think I should do. They didn't gave me clear instructions. I was thinking of just adding the missing signature and sending it back, but the dates on the form are all from march I don't know if that is the problem. Also the supporting documents can't be older than 6 months right ? I also have to include the baby birth certificate. How do I pay for the restoration of status, is there a form or something ? Oh man
read back a few pages of this thread lots of people are in the same situation and discussed what to do (use up to date forms, update documents, pay fees difference, include return form that Mississauga sent you)
as for restoration of status I believe you should find instructions on the IRCC website that states exactly what to do, and there is probably a few threads on this forum with relevant info.

Worst feeling right now is applying again and because of a technicality they send it back again. I found the restoration of the status form and how to pay. The thing also that confuses me is that on the paper they only highlighted the missing signature and police certificate. I gave them the police certificate from my country. This is what they say on the green paper I got. "The schedule A and police certificate(s) are now required upfront. " What does that mean. It says police certificate and clearences not provided for principal applicant, which I did.
In past 10 years from now, the countries where you stayed longer than 6 months include your birth&grow up place. You need to provide police certification, check in document checklist, there are a link is mentioned, go to their link to have their instructions if you're not sure. They will follow form Schedule A-Background eIMM 5669 where you declared where have you been and ask you to provide police cert follow that. I believe except: if you are in Canada right now and they don't need it if you apply Sponsorship inside Canada because you can be asked to do finger print in Canand, otherwise if you were in Canada before and stay more than 6 months, now you're outside Canada, so you need it from Canada or not, consult with your MP is better.
I think I found the anwser in the doc checklist. Police certificates, it says "If you have lived in canada for the last six months or canada is the place you lived for the most of your life since age 18, police certificates are not required at this time. "
I think they are asking the police clearence from my country again because its been 6 months and its not valid anymore.

We used a lawyer to file our application and he had us submit a criminal record check for Canada. My husband had been living in the Canada for 10 months at the time with a two week trip to visit his home country. He had been here for 5 consecutive months at the time of submission. I don't know what the right answer is but I do know that we were instructed to send the criminal record check for Canada by our legal representative.
