Canadian Experience Class

I've been reading about a proposed new immigration scheme called the Canadian Experience Class. I would have qualified for this class one year ago, when I was in Canada. I returned to my home country and later applied under the Federal Skilled Worker Class. I meet all the requierements for the Canadian Experience Class, except for one. I am not a legal temporary resident anymore. My question is, would that be taken into consideration under the FSW class? I have an MBA from a Canadian university and relevant work experience in Canada. My mistake was that I didn't apply while I was there. What are my chances?

No, it is only for a person in Canada. So your chances are nil for the CEC.

A pity you could have filed under International Graduate in Ontario PNP until June 2008.
Thanks BCguy. I guess I'll have to wait until something happens with my FSW application. Even though I can aply under PNP, I think it is very difficult, as most employers prefer to hire someone who is already in the country, specially in my line of work.

I read that a person is elegible as an International Graduate in Ontario PNP to apply within two years of the date on which they received their degree or diploma, so I have until June 2009. I just learned that today. What I find difficult is getting a job offer from an Ontario employer while I am outside of Canada. Any suggestions?

Of course you can. You will get extra points for your foreign work experience if you have any. However, your Express Entry stream will be CEC not FSW.

Max, thank you for the reply. Also in FSWP, Can i choose 2 years part time Canadian experience (while in studies) as the eligible work experience for EE, and then 'cumulate' the foreign work experience for more points? Would this be possible dear?

You can declare both Canadian and foreign work experience to fetch more points.

Absolutely, you can do that format only for the FSWP though. Unfortunately, Student work experience doesn’t count towards the minimum requirements for the CEC stream hence you cant apply for CEC.

One more thing, Student work experience gained while you were studying in Canada or abroad counts towards the minimum requirements for the FSWP if the work;
1) was paid by wages or commissions
2) was continuous (no gaps in employment), and
3) meets all the other requirements of the program (This includes co-op terms and apprenticeships).

Go to the link to see more information about it. https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=394&top=29

Ok thank you) That means the student work exp in canada can ONLY be used for minimum requirement of EE, and not to gain additional points (if foreign work exp is considered for EE).

Well, student work experience while you were in Canada cannot be used for the minimum requirement for the Express Entry program per se but only for the FSWP program within the EE system. Express Entry is consist of three different federal programs (CEC, FSW, FST) and PNP. If you are going to use your student work experience and foreign work experience you have to apply under FSWP, not for the other EE streams or you can give up your student work experience and use the foreign work experience and full-time Canadian work experience if you have any to apply under CEC.
