Family Sponsorship Question

planning to sponsor my mother; wife is the consigner

questions:
- is child day care subsidy considered Social assistance? If we are in receipt of this can we still apply to sponsor my ?

- my wife sponsored me and my daughter in the last 5 years. Would this be a make or break when applying to sponsor

We meet all income requirements.

Until someone said it's not considered as social assistance, why not not return the money to the government?

i don't have personal experience but i believe it's a federal benefit? also not 100% but if i'm right that it is a federal benefit, then I would think those are not social assistance. maybe you can call a legal aid office if you need to be sure
