Hi ,
I need your expert advise.Today i calculated my physical presence in Canada and i was absent for total 394 days in last 5 eligibile years.

Is there any one who had silimar days of absence and applied? I am eligible for applying as my total presence in canada is above 1097 days.

My question is :
Should i apply with 394 days showing on the presence calculator report or should i wait for another 5 - 6 months? These absence days are after i became PR.

Thanks.

If you have more than 1095 days then no issues whatsoever.

I think having a reasonable buffer is a good idea, if there is mistake in calculation, and if you fall short, you will end up being rejected plus a very long delay, the choice is yours, though.

So if at the time of applying you were not physically present in Canada for 394 days in the 5 years preceding the submission of the application then you have 1431 days presence plenty of buffer When the minimum is 1095

Thanks everyone for your input. Highly appreciate that.

@ EUK- I believe this forum has more professionals like you and others who replied than any lawyer in Canada. This forum always helped people way better than any lawyer. If my ask made u upset , I apologize.

Thanks Bs65.
Yes, I was physically present in Canada for 1431 days in 5 eligible years. Actually when I put my absence days in the presence calculator, it showed 394 absence days, that looked a bit odd to me and I thought maybe IRCC would put me under 2nd review path and this would cause extra delays. So I just wanted to get some expert advise.

People can share their experiences and what they can interpret. By professional or expert, I meant people who specialize in this field and do it for living. I am not upset at all :)

You're overthinking it way too much. If you want any consolation, your application actually fares better than 90% of the applications granted everything else in your application is routine. Therefore, if anything, your application would more likely speed through the process rather than go into a 2nd review path and face additional delays.

However, it bears repeating that this would likely hold if everything else in your application is routine and robust. So make sure you have checked in all the boxes and re-read your application 3 times over. Advice from a lawyer that has helped me time and time again - print out your application and read the printed out version. It is a lot easier to spot any errors once you print out the application. I myself spotted 4 errors after printing out the application despite going over my application three times over on my laptop.

Apart from that, I wish you the best of luck!

You are fine, don‘t worry,as long as you meet the 1095days presence in Canada and being honest with your information then you are good! plus 300 something days missing is no big deal.

I would recommend wait for another 1 month before you apply just in case if you miss count any absence days.

Also just a reminder, if you stay in a country for more then 183 days continuously, make sure you get a police certificate from this country.

Hi Experts,

While filling my absence calculator today I got stuck on how to enter 'Start Date' of my first absence from canada because that absence started before eligible 5 years (15 Nov. 2015 - 15 Nov. 2020) and ended within eligible 5 years, as system doesn't allow to enter any date prior to eligible 5 years start date which is 15 Nov. 2015.

I was away from canada from Dec. 2013 untill Nov. 2016 (~3 years). Now Nov. 2016 falls in my 5 year eligibility period but Dec.2013 doesn't, so sytem doesn't allow me to pick Dec. 2013 as start date.

This would be a common scenario for someone who was away from canada for 2 - 3 years after getting PR and now applying for Citizenship.

Please advise. Thanks.
