My apartment mate called IRCC because her work permit was not approved sonce almost 50 days. Agent told him that it is no more to be approved in 45 days and it can take up to 180 days now. He also added that biometric is waived for now but it will be taken later on.(we dont know if later on means later on for work permit or larer on when they apply for PR) Further, he said that they are busy bringing canadian citizens back who got stuck in other countries due to covid situation so all immigration process will take time.

I think there is no way in heaven that they will waive biometric for PR application and we all will have to wait till 2021 or untill Vaccine is readily available in market.

I guess being on paid vacation until further notice is nice. They can go to all the restaurants, gyms, bars, etc. Summer is coming to an end can't waste any time!

Guys, I was telling few days back that people are getting PR directly without any PPR and CoPR... did IRCC skip the PPR and COPR for now due to COVID and sending the PR directly.. below are few threads which are related to this.

So basically whats happed to them is - their passports returned with photo copies and etc without PR stamping nor COPR neither and after that - received e-mail saying my PR is completed, need to send photo for PR card and skipped physical landing.

Yes, biometrics is now waived for temporary residence applicants from within Canada in effect until further notice and they have mentioned that they will refund the money.... but for PR applicants no news yet.. hope to get some update soon on sept or Oct...

What to do if you’re in Canada and applying for temporary residence
  • Do not pay the biometric fee (CAN$85), even if the system asks you to pay it when you submit your application. Under this public policy, you’re currently exempt from the requirement to give your biometrics.
  • If you pay the biometric fee because you’ve been prompted to do so, and you receive a biometric instruction letter, you do not have to give your biometrics if you’re in Canada and applying for temporary residence. When we finalize your application, we’ll send you a refund for the biometric fee. You do not need to do anything to initiate the refund.

Son of a gun :D
If this is true, I am relieved like never before

Anyway, thread is too short, I hope it is not created by someone to make fake sensational claims for fun because 1) IRCC has not declared anything regarding it. 2) only few people on short thread claimed to receive confirmation without biometrics, stamps on passport and Copr letter 3)outland people with may 21- AOR got it and inland with very straightforward file are still waiting.

I hope I am wrong and they start issuing PR card directly.

Btw the biometric requirements for inland PR applicants had only been in effect for about 4 months before they shut down service Canada. Before that no one inside Canada needed to give biometrics.

On 31-Aug-2020, Saw status as "Application updated" and no visible changes. Status changed back to "Submitted" after coming back to screen. Is this a ghost update? I didn't receive any email. If it is ghost update, is it the first or second one?

yes mine is complete. I actually never caught it in a stage of in-progress. I requested my first set of GCMS notes on June 25th, and it was pulled on july 2nd. The newest "notes" entry at that time was just R10 check being completed on June 24th, and in the "assessments" section infosharing was already marked as complete.

In the infosharing detailed section (after medical, misrepresentation and ministerial relief sections) it just had two entries from the date that R10 check was complete. Both were transmissions to the USA, one was of the type "biometric - FCC" and the other was "biographic". Both also have a status field that says "exempt - CDA PR". I don't know what any of that means though and I haven't provided biometrics as service canada is closed. I also never gave biometrics for my work permits, although I did all the applications and extensions in person at the border and I can't remember if they took my photo and fingerprints then. I have a vague recollection of doing it but my mind might be mixing up memories of canadian and US work permit applications :)

I got a second set of notes a month later and none of these had any further entries/updates in them.

For context: I'm a british citizen and have lived and worked in the UK, USA and canada. My travel entries were significant (70+ entries) mostly to the USA for business and the UK to see friends/family with some random other places here and there for vacation.

“Biometric - FCC” refers to the sharing of biometric info between the Five Country Conference (FCC) that consists of the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
