My Work Permit for the spouse sponsorship has been rejected online after 2 days

Hello people,

I am from Italy and I live here in Canada with my IEC which will expiry in the end of August. So two days ago I applied for the spouse sponsorship alongside with an Open Work Permit in the same envelope.
I also did the application for the OWP online ,using the same account of my IEC application, which was already refused after 2 day.

So now I just want to understand if the whole application for the spouse sponsorship has been refused, or because I am Italian and my WP cannot be extended any further, I need to wait that they will check the whole application I sent by mail to have the final answer.
I read on few posts that usually it takes between 6-8 weeks for a final decision, so I dont get it how I already received the rejection of my OWP online after 2 days.

You can not Submit an owp application online if you haven't received Approval in principle. If you submit it with your spousal sponsorship paper work they will process them together and will not issue you the owp until you recive Approval in Principle which is all based on whether your sponsor is eligible. The online denial might not necessairly mean that your whole application was denied however i would look more into it. you could raise web form if im not mistaken and request GCM notes which will tell you the exact reason your owp was denied.

The Spousal sponsorship processing takes months to make a decision on. If im not mistaken you applied for an owp twice one through online and one through paper correct?

Yes I did sent it by mail together with the sponsor application and online on my account where I applied for the IEC.

Okay so the problem is the application online would be automatically denied. The only way to apply online would be if you already had approval in principle stating that your sponsor is eligible. If you are submitting the spousal application and the sponsorship application together they both need to be in paper. Make sure you look at the ircc family sponsorship guide carefully as to many mistakes you might have made. At this point though it just seems that the owp application that you sent in online was denied and you have to wait for the paper application to process after you spousal sponsorship application goes past stage 1.

Yes I guess the reason that was denied was because online. I just did it online because i thought they could link it on my account and also beacuse i paid the fees etc. but yeah hopefully I will receive good news in couple of months. Thank you very much for the answers

As long as you included printed out reciepts for all of your fees you need to pay at the moment in the right order. You should be ok.

Yes I did include all the fees. Hopefully the will accept the owp fee even thou is linked with the application online which it was denied
