Soft landing lol
Really its ridiculous. In such difficult to travel times its highly risky to travel just for the purpose of validating copr. One must stay there atlease for 2 to 3 months to be safe.Jb scenario or corona is going to be worse only untill any vaccine comes. So if someone is really apprehensive of living there and has good income in home country u should go for extension. But at the same time as flights are resuming operations gradually its uncertain whether these extension will be provided after flights open.So we might have to struggle in the beginning but gradually things will sort out.Ppl should move permanently to be safe.

In the post itself they have mentioned that Air France offers connections to Canada! But not sure if they will allow to board these flights if you don't have a valid visa for Paris.

Before worrying about Valid visa for Paris ..... You have to contend with our stupid aviation government which appears to have opened up international travel just for namesake ..... In reality they won't allow you to board any of these flights by putting insane restrictions ....:mad:...

Below is On Air France Website - India Travel Restrtictions: COPR holders not allowed except for those who are married to US / Canadian citizens. >>

Repatriation flights by Air France are in strict compliance with the EXIT and ENTRY regulations applicable at origin and destination as defined by the competent authorities.Current approvals received by Air France / KLM for repatriation operations ex India allow travel of the following :
  • EU Nationals returning to home country ( including PR holding spouse and children below 18 years of age accompanied or otherwise)
  • Indian nationals with long-term EU residency permit with final destination within Europe.
  • All other foreign nationals returning to their home country.
  • Indian nationals with Green Cards, Permanent Resident permit to Canada, USA & other countries will be allowed to travel only in case of the specified family connection i.e Spouse is a national of the destination country*

Not included in the current repatriation scope :

Resident Permit Holders for all third countries including Green cards , all short stay visas and tourist visas.

Passengers are requested to recheck travel eligibility based on the above and on the regulations mentioned on the respective country’s regulatory website and accordingly purchase tickets at their own responsibility. Passengers are personally responsible to comply with the regulations.

Basically you can only travel in Air India unless you can marry a Canadian or US national. Hats off to our government, they really know how to make money in this pandemic.

I submitted a web form last week to see if they can extend my COPR past Jan 2021. I explained in the web form that I originally planned to land by September but because the COVID situation is getting worse by the day and traveling in winter would be much riskier this would be hard to travel between US and Canada. CIC responded saying that they encourage that I travel before my current COPR documents expire, but in any case if I am not able to travel, they asked me to respond to this email in January requesting to cancel the current COPR so that they can issue instructions on how to get new medical done.
But they never mentioned about my IELTS validity. Since COPR has already been issued, does the validity of my IELTS still matter to get COPR extended? My scores expire in September 2020.

IELTS should no longer be an issue for COPR extension.

Anyone planning to take VBM Air India flights from Delhi to Frankfurt/Paris and then Air France/Air Canada to Canada? Wondering if their is any way to tag bags in Delhi so that these are directly delivered in Toronto ( without checking bags again in Paris or Frankfurt)?

Yes it is possible ... There was guy here on forum who travelled in mid May through London he did it ... he checked the bags at Delhi with Toronto as destination.

This is doable as it was already done by someone in this thread who travelled to Canada in VB flights via London. Please make sure to consult Air India and double check any Transit VISA requirements in Paris.

Earlier it was done by few people but now it is not possible. one of my friend went on 14th July from Mumbai . Airline tag her bags upto London only. She has to took her bags at London and she was not allow to spend a minute at airport so she has to book hotel near London Airport. Better confirm with Airline. She was not allowed board the Flight at Mumbai Airport without hotel booking so she has to booked hotel .

Thanks. Been doing some research. Airlines don't interlink bags for onward journey on different tickets if layover is more than 12-13 hrs or if it's overnight layover.
