Hey guys,

Can someone point me to where it says that soft-landings are non-essential travels?

As per the travel exemptions page of the IRCC's website, essential travel is defined as "travel for reasons that are non-discretionary and non-optional. The emergency orders under the Quarantine Act do not allow people to travel to Canada for optional or discretionary reasons, such as for tourism, recreation or entertainment."

If I interpret this strictly, a soft-landing (with 14d quarantine) is an essential travel: it is not discretionary and my country has flights to Canada: I have to activate my PR before the deadline.

Can we really be refused entry in Canada because we do a soft-landing?
Hi technically speaking you.wont be denied entry to Canada. However soft-landing still falls under non-essential travel.

Look at the footnote in this link
www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/coronavirus-covid19/travel-restrictions-exemptions.html

The 3rd sentence is the reason why it is important to travel ASAP none knows how the situation will unfold in coming days.
Even if they ban travellers from India or something else, do you think they would deny people COPR extension unless the people don't land in Canada unless it has been like 6 months after covid ends?

I have an okay okay job in India.. i would have to serve 2 months of notice.. I was thinking to move to Canada once everything settles down because based on YouTube videos jobs are scarce at the moment

Hi pkhare, thanks for your response. Are you saying there are no consequences for doing a softlanding with the 14 day quarantine?
The footnote you are referring to is the copy paste of my previous email. From my perspective one could argue that the CoPR expiry date is non-discretionary and non-optional, so the softlanding would be essential travel. But this is contradicted by the IRCSS tweets of July 3 I shared earlier today.

So that means we can't travel
I am not in India but I have checked both KLM and Lufthansa to book flights. They say they follow the exit rule of the country they are taking off from and entry rule of the destination. Canada entry rule is clear. It seems the restrictions are from India (exit rule) which puts limitations on who can travel international.

Hello, When did your COPR expire? Isn't your VO Warsaw? I think they process all CIS applications. Did you try to write to their address ? I did so, they answered within 4 hours.
Copr expired 9 April(
Cpc Ottawa, vo Kyiv
I wrote to the embassy in April, got generic response. As for my web forms.
At my account there is only information letter that says "keep calm, we'll tell you what to do later"))
So, I'm trying to do so.

Dear All,

My COPR expired on 27th May. i have informed that i am ready for travel. i received below feedback from IRCC

************************************************************************************************************
  1. Your plans to live and settle in Canada upon arrival
· documents to support your living situation in Canada (i.e. address, lease agreement, home ownership document)

· employment plans in Canada, (i.e. location of work, letter from employer)

· Any other relevant information.

  1. How you plan to quarantine for 14 days when you arrive in Canada, including how you will have access to groceries, get medical care, and other essential services. While in quarantine, you will not be able to leave your place of quarantine for any reason. This is mandatory even if you have no COVID-19 symptoms.
· proof of funds (i.e, bank and/or credit card statements)

  1. your proposed or confirmed travel itinerary
· a description of your proposed or confirmed travel itinerary, including travel tickets if you have already purchased them
********************************************************************************************

would you advice me, why IRCC asking "employment plans in Canada, (i.e. location of work, letter from employer)"? whats should i response regarding this query. I applied PNP.

In additional, if anyone submit 14 days quarantine plan, would you please share your quarantine plan with me.

Thanks

That is strange. How is Qatar Airways allowing COPR holders to board when KLM and Lufthansa won't.

This is believe is because Qatar Airways flights were scheduled in agreement with Delhi High commission in India hence they must have recieved instructions from them. Whereas Lufthansa and KLM flight were scheduled after DGCA approval hence the discrepancy.

Very disappointing!! Lufthansa price was 85K and KLM 91K, a lot cheaper than Air India haha.

Need to wait for other airlines. Lets see if Emirates or Etihad start repatriation flights. Any news if British Airways has any repatriation flights? I didn't find anything on their website.

From my point of view it's not about Canada banning Indian but the extensions. How long will it take for extensions to be processed by NDVO ?? We have many people with expired COPR and keeping in mind that NDVO hasn't even opened it might take 2-3 months or more for NDVO to process extension. NDVO will have its hands full with students visa, normal applications and also our extension.

You are right that jobs scene in Canada is bleak currently but atleast we can find some job or other and once situation starts recovering people landed now will get jobs. After October or November there will be again a lot of rush of people and situations might get out of hand.

It's like rock and hard place scenario.

No BA hasn't given information regarding repatriation Flights on their website or their FCO site. Current scenario no flights to India from UK.
