Nope the criteria is exactly the same, it is mentioned on that link as well but there is a chance. Why they mention specifically for immediate family members and give a deadline till 30th June, after that anyone can apply for TRV.

They might see TRV applications more emotionally? I don't know. And I won't know until I actually apply and see the result.

I have been reading for such long time in these forums that why don't IRCC give out TRVs for spouses and I feel like this is their way of telling us that we are listening to you and encouraging you to apply for spousal TRV. Again, might be a scam to get $100 from us but if it gives me hope of bringing my spouse earlier then I am willing to spend that $100.
I agree with you that maybe they are being more sensitives with our cases, and an indirect to say this application process will be longer, to search other ways to see our spouses before. It's strange that they are encouraging us to apply for TRV when before being the spouse was a big reason of rejecting it (of course there are exceptions, but the majority they reject).
Just waiting a couple of days more to decide if I apply for it (remembering I had the TRV denied in october last year)

There's a few more open than they list on that page. Dubai is open with limited services. Everything is slowly coming back. It'll all be good in the end. :)
Canada has lockdown till 30 june, i hope they'll start processing files at least from 1st july

In fact baring movement this month with aors I wouldn't expect movment till early next year with apps(when covid 19 is under full control)
Do we know for sure if by early next year Covid will be under full control?
I guess the answer is "no" so, lets be optimistic.
Remember - the spouse visa comes under family reunification which is Canada's priority always and it is even more important in these tough times. Once travel restrictions are eased (on July 1st), we will see movement in the apps.

I am not sure it has a lot to do with travel restrictions. The reason for slow to non-existent processing might the way the government works now. Working remotely requires a different set of rules to be implemented that would allow visa processing to comply with the privacy regulations.

I agree it is only a matter of figuring out a way to process remotely with this current unforeseen event. I think this would change a lot of their working conditions and processing in the future similar to what will happen to the entire world, post covid 19 world is going to be a whole new world. Let's stay positive looking at the silver lining.
