Hey Can you share details on how did you book your flight? I m planning to travel in first week of July.
I have not travelled yet but I am keeping an eye on various updates regarding travel and people sharing their landing experiences. I am waiting for CoPR extension and have flight credits with Air Canada for future travel. In my opinion, if you are looking for a flight ticket then book it directly from carrier site instead of an agent or third party as it will help you in rescheduling, refunds and travel credits if flight gets cancelled. Best of luck!

Yes please share details. My parents are also planning to come by air India direct flight to Toronto. but are the bookings open now?
Hi Neeti,

If I recall, your parents' visa has already expired, correct? With VFS in India yet to open as well as New Delhi Visa Office still not fully functional, I am assuming their CoPR extension is yet to be initiated? FYI - my Mom's CoPR expired. Hyderabad VFS does not state any expected opening date on their website. Are your parents in Delhi or need to travel domestic - because that is another issue for us! Domestic flights are sparse and we need to plan connection with the Air India repatriation flights. Happy to exchange notes on progress, if you like.

Regards
Nav

Hello ,
I am planning to fly to Toronto via connecting flights . do I need to have a medical certificate or a check up done for doing a landing in Toronto or taking a flight in Air India? please , anyone who has flown to Canada let me know.i have flights in a few days.
Thanks
Hi,

Are you traveling from India? Which flights did you book? My COPR expires on 6 July. I have written to IRCC for extension but I have received a very generic reply. ? Do you have any idea, Does Air Canada has flights from Delhi, India or any other airlines?

Hi Nav,
yes that's corect. My parents visa has expired. But I am asking these questions because I see some people are flying from India to Toronto. They live in mumbai so will have to take domestic flight to delhi. We are confused now.. we still do not know if flights are working and if they are are the visa offices in india open to ask for extension. Or should we wait even longer. The air india repatriation flight prices are very high too. what are your plans? when did your visa expire?

Hey Guys,

I have a question about expired COPR. My wife's COPR expired on May 24th. I raised a webform before it expired and got a reply saying your file has been transferred to New Delhi. Now how would I know if it's been opened in India.
Current status still says Decision made. Would it change to "in progress" again? or Do I need to send another webform to New delhi?

Thanks,
AK

No there are no direct flights to Canada.one has to book connecting flights through vande bharat air india to countries from where air Canada operates or any other carrier can take you to Canada. I remember air india vande bharat has flights to Dublin,London, brussels, Amsterdam , frankfurt from.where you can take connecting flights to Toronto

My spouse who is secondary applicant on our application is unable to travel canada before our COPR expires in July. Does anyone know what happens if only primary applicant lands first and the COPR expires ? Its risky in current situation to leave job in home country and then travel, Hence we are thinking of going one person at a time and look for a job. Any suggestions welcome.. My spouse was supposed to be transferred to a job through internal transfer via his employer in april , but due to COVID they have put hold on all transfers. It is unlikely for it to be lifted before August as per company policy.

Yes the PA can land but you’ll need to sponsor your wife again if she can’t land by the time her COPR expires. I guess you can try and ask for an extension but that is far from guaranteed if you were able to land.

Has your mother received a spot on a repatriation flight. Demand is high and your mother’s priority would be low as someone who has been living in India permanently and is only landing in Canada for the first time. People who are only on vacation or already PRs and citizens will be given priority.

They might not look at the extension request too leniently considering the fact that the primary applicant was able to land while the secondary applicant 'chose' not to.

Hope the below information is helpful for you

Approved permanent resident applicants with expired or expiring documents
If we already approved your permanent resident application but you can't travel to Canada before your documents expire, use the Web form to tell us why you can’t travel.

Once it’s possible for you to travel, use the Web form to let us know so we can tell you what to do next.
