Does anyone know in what order IRCC processes received applications? Looking at the January applicants for example, I see an application (single) delivered on Jan 6 which received AOR on Feb 27, while another single application delivered earlier on Jan 3 received AOR on March 9.
Don't they process them by date delivered? In that case shouldn't all the applications for Jan 3 be processed before moving on to Jan 6?
Ideally, yes, it should work like that.
Let's think about this in a more real world context for a minute.
Let's assume there is a person (Person A) that distributes work to the Case officers (CO).
Now, the COs might (or might not) have some work already pending. Let's assume the workloads of COs are as follows -
CO1 = 0 Pending Applications (Received dates from Dec 25 Jan 02)
CO2 = 15 Pending Applications (Received dates from Dec 25 Jan 02)
Now, 'Person A' distributes application packages to each of these officers. On top of what they already have -
CO1 receives 6 new applications (Received dates from Jan 03 to Jan 10)
CO2 receives 1 new application ((Received dates from Jan 03 to Jan 10)
Let's also assume the applications you and your friend sent were received on the same day (Jan 03).
Now, if your application goes to CO1 and your friend's application goes to CO2, there is a good chance that you will get your AOR much sooner than your friend will.
Why? Because your file is with an officer who doesn't have any pending work. He will start working on your file soon. Even if we assume that your application was the last in the new pile handed over to CO1, you might still receive your AOR soon because there are only 5 applications before you.
However, your friend's application is with an officer with 15 pending files on his desk. Even if we assume that your friend's application was the first in the new pile handed over to CO2, AOR might take a while because there are 15 other applications before your friend's.
This is the way I see it and this is just my opinion.
I had the same problem with my OINP application (which was paper based back in 2015). Many people who applied on the same date and even several days after me were getting AORs and I wasn't. I did some thinking and this was the explanation I came up with and it made sense to me.
